Syn Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 So I was looking around on eBay for LEGO like I always do when I came across a nice little action for 10 Power Line Poles with 24ft of heavy thread. This got me to thinking, as I am an Electrician by trade, Where is all the Power for the town? and then almost as if from the movie Despicable Me I had and idea.(Light bulb ironic?) underground services and Pad transformers so I looked around my parts and put together what I needed. and here is what I came up with in about 5 minutes. Now I just need to print the warnings and stuff on them so it will be complete. Quote
dr_spock Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Nice idea. I have one of those in front of my house. Is it a PCB free transformer? Quote
prateek Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Very simple, but I like it. I have one of those small ones in front of my house, which are much more common. I think 3 1x2 bricks stacked will work fine for one of those. Quote
Syn Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) Nice idea. I have one of those in front of my house. Is it a PCB free transformer? Yes but it is PBO, PolyBrick Oil :D Very simple, but I like it. I have one of those small ones in front of my house, which are much more common. Yeah, most of the ones I see have a curve on the access side of it so I just used some curved ones that I had that I think came from one of those bulk brick sets. Edited January 15, 2011 by Syn Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Good idea 'Syn', though in Oz our transformers are beige in colour.....but in your Lego city spot on......keep on sparking ! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 I had the same initial thought a while back. How would power get to the buildings. Building a bunch of power poles would be neat, but expensive in parts. I've seen them on eBay and are a little high. I would like to build a sub station as I don't have enough of the right parts to build numerous of these smaller boxes. Great idea though Quote
