RockeTeK Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) Hello, I'm quite new here and I am not sure if this topic is placed in the right section. (This is about buying Lego, but not about general sales which is a seperate section.) Since this post is about Technic elements, I thought it should be in here, please move it if needed. I bought a 8880 set, but unfortunately it misses some pieces. I'm not really familiar with Bricklink etc. So I was wondering if someone could help me with finding the missing pieces for a reasonable price. (At Lego is not possible anymore?) Thanks in advance! Sam42 Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Whoaa that's quite a list! I think you can get software to scan bricklink stores for your wanted parts, you can certainly get one to source parts from a LDD file but i've never used any of 'em.... i just generate a list using peeron and then look for someone with all/most of the parts i'm after in their store on brick link..... that or use lego direct to order the parts via the customer service number, though i fear some of the parts you're after may be discontinued and unavailable through lego direct..... good luck dude! Blakbird Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 You've already done the hard part in putting together the list. Now: Create a Bricklink Account Go to the "Wanted" tab to make a Wanted list Choose "Parts", and start adding all the parts you need to your wanted list. Once the list is complete, click on "By Store". Bricklink will list the stores which have the greatest number of the parts you want. You may want to just look at stores in your own country. Click on a store name, and Bricklink will bring up a list of all the parts that store has on your list. Click "Auto-fill cart min" and Bricklink will choose the right number of each part. Checkout and buy your parts. Repeat if you didn't get everything you need. If you want to check prices, you'll have to look at more than one store to see how they compare. Quote
Sam42 Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Cheers Blakbird! i shoulda known it would be easier than i thought... That might come in useful for some of the flex parts i need for this 2legoornot2lego style truck chassis i'm working on! it's turning out to be a rare part hungry build! Did I hear somewhere you built a copy of one of ingmar's trucks blakbird? Quote
RockeTeK Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 (edited) @Sam42: This list isn't actually that big, considering that I bought the set for 35euros! @Blakbird: I am going to try it right now, thanks for help. Edited January 15, 2011 by RockeTeK Quote
RockeTeK Posted January 15, 2011 Author Posted January 15, 2011 It seems that all the items can be purchased for around 8 euros. Thanks again for the advice Blakbird! Quote
BasOne Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Alternativly you can contact LEGO customer support. Tell them what set you bought and what pieces were missing... The'll send them free of charge... Allthough with a list that long, they might think you're taking advantage of them :P Quote
Blakbird Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Did I hear somewhere you built a copy of one of ingmar's trucks blakbird? I'm almost done collecting the parts to build his US Truck. Haven't built it yet though. Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Use this app: http://www.tellblom.se/lego/getstores/ It's great for hunting down as few stores as possible with a low price. Quote

Blakbird Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I thought that rang a bell..... Would you be able to give me a break-down of the flex parts used in the steering system maybe? Not yet. I'm not entirely sure what they are until I have built the truck to see. 2LEGOornot2LEGO seems have removed the detail internal photos from Brickshelf, so there aren't any images that show the steering any more. I'm not sure why he did that. You could try asking him directly. He is a member here at eurobricks. Quote

Cheers anyway fella, you'll have to post up when you complete it! Quote
RockeTeK Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 To get a bit back on topic: I have a question about Bricklink (Blakbird you did not receive my PM?) I ordered some (but not all) parts I missed from the 8880, however they still appear on my wanted list. Is it possible to remove the items from a completed order from the wanted list with just one click? (or do I have to delete each of the parts myself?) Also, is there a way to find out if I can build other sets with the sets I have? Example: I have 8275 and 8043 (and 4 separate small LA's). Can I build the 8069 BackHoe? (ofcourse I can check every required part one by one, but that will be timeconsuming for bigger sets!) Ty for respone! Quote
Blakbird Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 To get a bit back on topic: I have a question about Bricklink (Blakbird you did not receive my PM?) No, I did not get a PM. I ordered some (but not all) parts I missed from the 8880, however they still appear on my wanted list.Is it possible to remove the items from a completed order from the wanted list with just one click? (or do I have to delete each of the parts myself?) Sadly, no. Bricklink does not remove the items from your wanted list when you buy them. You have to do that yourself. This would be a great feature that would save me a lot of time. Also, is there a way to find out if I can build other sets with the sets I have?Example: I have 8275 and 8043 (and 4 separate small LA's). Can I build the 8069 BackHoe? (ofcourse I can check every required part one by one, but that will be timeconsuming for bigger sets!) Not exactly. If you get an account on Peeron and then tell it which sets you have, it will keep track of how many of each part you have. By looking at the inventory for 8069, you could compare with your parts, but it is not automatic. There's another new inventory website (which I can't recall at the moment) which may do what you want. The 8069 Backhoe has unique actuators though, so there are no other sets you could use to build that one. Quote
RockeTeK Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 No, I did not get a PM. Could you try to send me one then? Not exactly. I already have the 4 actuators (ordered at LEGO), so there should not be a problem anymore I will try on Peeron, thanks for the tip! Quote
Azzepa Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 There's another new inventory website (which I can't recall at the moment) which may do what you want. I think you may be thinking of Basebrick, am I right? I think it can compare parts listings to your inventory, but have not tried to (or know how to) do so yet. Hope this helps Quote
