Night City Dream Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) First of all I beg your pardon if I created this topic in an unappropriate forum, if so, please move it. The Android OS already offers us a wide variety of custom LEGO-related applications. Now I\d like to show you two programs that are aimed at dealing with Collectable minfigures. It should be sais that both are free and were tested on my Samsung Galaxy S. All the photos are clickable, and are of a 800х480 resolution. Titles: 1. Lego Mini Figure Identifier, version 2.2, © Andrew Pym. 2. Minifig Collector, © Nic Jansma. Both applications have the same functions yet have different user interface. However, I can't definitely say which one is the best. So, let's pass the the review of the first application. Lego Mini Figure Identifier So, we launch it in the Menu (I also put it on one of the desktops on my Galaxy S) and here we are at the home page: At the top of the page it is indicated which barcode should be considered. Lower, there are 3 main options. The red brick activates the camera that can read barcodes, so it is valid only for series 1 & 2. If we are to discover what is inside a green polybag, we have to press the green brick that sends us here: Here we are told that series 3 doesn’t have the barcodes. By pressing View Bumpcodes we get the following: Each minifigure is clickable, when clicking, we see a page of a concrete minifigure and hear an appropriate sound (For instance, if we open a Fisherman page, we can hear a sound of a fishing rod, or if we want to see a baseball player, we hear him screaming). Let's get back to the homepage and press the 3rd option (Browse Mini Figure Catalogue). Now we can see this table: The table contains info on all the four series of minifigures. The two first series come with barcodes, the third one comes with bumpcodes while the fourth series has only names and pictures so far. Each option is clickable as well here. We get more information beyond sound, pictures and barcodes/bumpcodes. A small text description is also offered. For example, opening the 8th minifigure of the 2nd series we can hear the sea and dolphins: Some more screenshots. In my opinion, a little disadvantage of this application is that picture quality is not very high. Mind that all the barcodes and bumpcodes are European. Now, let's view the second program. Minifig Collector After launching it, we get to the matrix of minifigs. As you can see, there are minifigures of the Series 1, 2 & 3 only. Each minifigure is clickable but when opening we do not here anything. However, here we can count the minifigs we already have bought or that we have in hand. Barcodes and bumpcodes are here. For example, yesterday I bought 1 skater and now I'm considering 2 more. Below the matrix there is a menu where we can view the list of minifigures (Series 1, 2 & 3). Mind that Series 1 minifigs are in black (S1), Series 2 is blue and Series 3 is green. Now, let's get back one more time to the main page. When pressing Barcodes / Bumpcodes we get a list of them. I especially liked they are large and look very neatly on a 4-inch screen. The following option allows us to activate the camera to read the barcodes, which is available only for Series 1 & 2. The last option opens internet auctions like Amazon.com where you can purchase minifigs. This is almost all I wanted to share with you. As a little addition I'd like to mention that Android Market offers some 20 – 30 LEGO-related programs and applications. Apart from what I have reviewed, there are different games, instructions database, LEGO brickgame, LEGO Batman, an interestng application that allows to see if a purchase is a bargain or not – GetPrice. There are also some wallpapers but I didn't try them as they are not so sleek as marvellous default wallpapers on the Galaxy S like Venice at night.. I also donwloaded a BrickJournal application: P.S. I beg your pardon if I created this topic in an unappropriate forum, if so, please move it. Edited January 13, 2011 by Night City Dream Quote

AussieJimbo Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Don't have an Android phone but that looks pretty useful. :classic: Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Thanks for sharing. All the extra features are a nice touch. The S3 cheat sheet doesn't look as thorough as the FBTB one, though. Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Another usefully application is RepRice from Tellblom. You enter the set number and it will get the price from S@H and the three lowest prices from BL. Very useful when trying to decide if it's worth buying a set in a shop. Quote
