I just noticed I completely missed KielDaMans SW LDD Mocs over in the SW forum WITH downloadable LXF-files :classic: . I guess this is one of the problems with LXF-files - in once sence they belong here in the LDD forum, in another in the relevant theme. One way to solve this would be an index (like the Official Topics Index) here in the LDD forum to keep track of LXF-files throughout Eurobricks. What do you guys think? And anyone feel like maintaining such index? PM me in that case.

Anyway, here is a link to KielDaMans post. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, we really do need an Index for LXF files, I cannot maintain it unfortunately but I just had an idea: Seen as there are so many themes to cover and the Indexer would have to be constantly in the watch over the whole site, how about you allocate a few themes to each willing indexer. This person can watch these two forums which will be ones he regularly watches anyway and then edits the Index accordingly. I cannot think of any other options unless a new rule comes where all the LDD MOC's are to be posted in this area of the Forum, simply giving one person the job would be far too difficult and would probably end up with an in-complete Index.

Just my two cents.

You're welcome Superkalle, I am more than happy to share the LXF files of my SW MOCs. :classic:

Thanks also for bringing out this topic. I hope it's just ok if I voiced out my opinion here (and not in the PM). I, for one, think this is a great idea and I completely for this proposed LDD MOC Index here in the LDD forum. We all know that in the past year or so there has been an observable increase of LDD MOCs in Eurobricks, and having a common index will really be helpful for easy searching, browsing, and referencing of LDD MOCs. But I believe the success of this MOC Index will all depend on the willingness of the LDD builder to share the LXF files of their MOCs. Not all LDD MOCs posted here in EB have LXF files, and of course, the builders have all the right to keep their so-called 'trade secrets'. But for those who want to share, like what marcosbessa and I did, this will be great for other members who might want to make a copy of their own or learn some building techniques by analyzing the LXF. I really do hope we'll have this LDD MOC Index up in the near future.

I totally agree with the suggestions of Eskallon, assigning different Indexers will truly help to set-up and maintain this LDD MOC Index. I happen to browse the entirety of the forums on a daily basis so if you need my help I'm more than willing to 'provide my free services.' I also think that one of the responsibilities of the Indexer is to contact the LDD MOCer and ask if it would be ok if he/she would like to share the LXF of his/her LDD MOC or not. Or we could still Index those MOCs without LXF and just state that the LXF file is unavailable.

Thanks for valuable input.

The rule at EB is that LDD MOCs go in their respective theme. However, LDD Mocs with LXF attached is a special case since they are interesting to LDD builders per se (inspiration etc). That's why this talk of an index with MOCs with LXF's here in the LDD forum.

Perhaps a set-up could be that each one scouting the EB forum, could report nice finds by posting in a new index topic, and then one person can summarize those in the first post of the topic (hope that made sence).

So, the next step is to start up an index topic. However, before doing that, I'm going to let this rest for some time so that anyone who's interested to particiapte as "agents" get in touch and also someone who can maintain the index here in the LDD forum.
