Well...there's a "NXTified" version that Ramacco made. You can see it on my website: http://lego-x.com/2010/02/22/nxtfied-crane-truck-woo-hoo/

I'm SURE there's a PF version SOMEWHERE, but I don't know where to find one. Hope this helps!

It wouldn't be very hard to take the existing functions and make them R/C by adding and IR Receiver, but if you are talking about actually making it drive, then you'd need at least 2 XL motors for a model that size and an M for steering. I don't think there is room in that very full model for that much more mechanism without drastically compromising the looks. On the other hand, I suppose my statement that it can't be done is a good challenge for someone.

Hello.

I actually modified mine some time ago. To ensure enough space for all the motors and IR receivers I extend the wheelbase.

I allso added some cargo space, so you can load or unload things to or from the truck.

I installed 1 XL motor, 5 M motors, 4 PF Lights, 3 IR receivers and 2 Battery boxes. The tipper is based on the trailer from the 8063 set Tractor with Trailer.

I recorded video on the table, so I could demonstrate all the functions.

When I first got my 8258 one of the first mods I made was the make the drive and steering controllable by RC.. As I didn't have that much time at that moment I decided I was going to go for the least destructive approach and change as little as possible to make it RC. So I replace the fake engine with an XL motor and switched the gears so that it would run at a reasonable speed and with enough strength to drive the truck. Then I put another XL Motor inside the cabin so that when it closed it would drive the steering. It wasn't a great setup but it worked for what I wanted it to do. I don't remember what other projects I was working on at the time but they probably used my only remaining M Motor which would have probably been a better choice. THE END RESULT WASN'T A VERY EXTENSIVE MOD BUT IT WORKED!! Here is the link to my bricklink folder which has the rest of the pictures. Some of the pictures are of the original and some are of the modded one.. If nobody has noticed yet, I am currently working on an EXTREME 8258 which shares only its looks with the original. If you are interested look at the EB thread.

SORRY ABOUT HAVING SUCH A LARGE PICTURE :sceptic:

Lots of software can fix this for you. Assuming you're using windows, something like picasa works well. There are even online tools like picnik that can do it too.
