Locutis Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) Hello fellow Lego builders! I thought I would share something I just finished creating (at 3AM!). I started it yesterday just before suppertime. It's a work-in-progress, I'm still going to tinker, get some colours right, etc. I'm waiting to get 9 sets in the mail from S@H so that I can tinker and see what else I can build or substitute parts to make it look better, etc. Any thoughts? I don't quite know how I'm going to do the interior, or how I'm going to make stairs into the basement level quite yet. What better thing to do on New Year's when it's -20'C outside?!?!? Locutis EDIT: Here's the full group of photos I took, posted to Flickr: Edited January 2, 2011 by Locutis Quote
prateek Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 This is great, although I could do without the huge sign on top. You could use the technique used in the Fire Brigade set's numbers to create a SNOT UPS sign. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Looks good, The colour scheme is perfect and I love the brick effect you've added to the front gives it a very old fashioned look to it . Could we see some pictures of the interior Quote

You could use the technique used in the Fire Brigade set's numbers to create a SNOT UPS sign. Thanks for the tip. I may just do that. I was trying to keep the height in-line with the other modular buildings though. The sign makes the height the same as the Fire Brigade's Bell Tower. Or do you not think it needs to be kept at a consistent height? Could we see some pictures of the interior I have 9 Prince of Persia sets coming from Lego (bought at 50% off sale), so I will get a good selection of tan and "dark flesh" colours. I also want to build a bank similar to both this building and the Fire Brigade, in dark flesh, and dark dark blue. I may swap some colours out of this building depending on my needs for another set, and for some more colour (instead of some of the grey). Edited January 2, 2011 by Locutis Quote
buddy Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Great MOC! I particularly like the effect of brickwork on the front of the building. Very well done. ~buddy~ Quote
sens1992 Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Cool little building Locutis! Like Prateek said, I would maybe reduce the huge UPS sign high above but for the rest, it is a 10-4! Quote

In my honest opinion, I don't think the heights need to be uniform. Judging from your pics, it looks tall enough for me. With the idea I gave you, I think you can make this 3-4 bricks taller, which would bring it very close to the height of the FB. EDIT: Now looking at it a third time, I think you can make the second floor at least 3-4 bricks taller. Edited January 2, 2011 by prateek Quote
Syn Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I would have made the underground big enough to make it a loading area for trucks. or storage with a door to load it into a Big rig truck to take it to the actual shipping centers but I love it! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Looks good so far, though do take on board those comments of 'prateek', etc., as it will make this creation of yours pop in the end ! Brick On 'Locutis' ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Looks great! I love the use of those arches and the ribbed bricks for a textured wall in the front. Very presentable slideshow too, it was really nice just sitting back and enjoying seeing the various views of your MOCs. Very good work so far and looking forward for the completion of this project.
