andythenorth Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 (edited) Emerald Night arrived today Do I keep the single coach or sell it? - I don't want just one coach for it, I'd rather have none. - I could build more coaches (with some MOC elements) if I go on some kind of epic Bricklink mission. I'd need at least three or four more to make it worthwhile. Not sure if it's worth the effort So keep for parts, or sell? I guess there are plenty of people out there who might enjoy another coach? Or you could (ahem) order a second Emerald Night... use the carriage, and either sell the engine and tender (makes more $$; on average around 35-40 GBP via Ebay) - or use the bits to build a nice small 'Ivor the Engine' style loko and keep some nice dark green for later. Finally - ive seen a good Post / Cargo car MOC of the Emerald Night car with sliding grey doors - only one normal tan window at the front. It was by a great Swiss designer Tablizm - unfortunately not shown on Flickr but I still want to give credit. Quote

legotrainfan Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I think that Emerald Night coaches are much wanted and that you will get quite a bit of money by selling it. However, building extra coaches is no real problem. I added two further coaches after buying all the necessary parts from bricklink and TLC. You just have to be patient till you've got all pieces. I took the first option but it was expensive, working out at £40 per coach. I built five so it was a large investment. The second option would have been much better in retrospect but I didn't have any coaches as I'd bought my EN engine from someone who had already decided on option two. Jonathan Quote

hoeij Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I have a number of coaches from older train sets, but the color of the EN coach clashed with the color of the other cars. To solve that, I could either: buy more EN coaches, or, sell the one that I had. I waited about half a year to make up my mind, then I listed it on bricklink for $58, and it sold within a month. I have an older design for a large coach I'd like to refine a bit, and them I'm going to build a few of those to run with the EN. Quote

I have an extra unopened EN Train, but I don't know if I would get more for in BNIB versus opening it just for the coach and reselling the engine and tender after TLC discontinues it... For what they fetch on bricklink and eBay you can almost pay for your locomotive with what you get for the coach. Quote
