Oky Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Obi Wan Kenobi was aware of the things he had to give up when he joined the Jedi Order - Love, family, passion... But he never really missed those things. His commitment to his duties as a jedi usually outweighed his emotions. Even now that he lived in self-exile and devoted his life to watching over young Luke Skywalker, his solitude didn't bother him all that much. However, it was hard for him to ignore his emotions during the holidays. Every year on Christmas Eve, when he saw young Luke having a joyous time with his uncle and aunt, old Ben Kenobi's heart got heavy. Standing there in the cold evening desert, he wished he could spend the holiday with his family just like he used to... Unfortunately, the picture came out quite grainy. I'll try to retake it if I have enough time. Please let me know if there's anything else I could fix. Thanks. Happy Holidays everyone! Quote
pompommini Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Wow! This is amazing! I love the way you captured the shadows on Ben and you made the house look all nice and cosy Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Very nice interior lighting, that's from a light brick right? Good job achieving your intended shot, though I hope you could fix the graininess of this pic in time. Quote
Solscud007 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 lower your ISO that will remove the graininess Quote
fawnskin Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I really like this, I 'm sure you'll get the grain fixed. My only complaint would be that it could use something more Star Warsy. I'm not sure that a casual viewer who didn't read the intro would know that this is something from the Star Wars universe. Quote
Oky Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 I don't know if it's too late, or if it even matters for the judging, but I retook the pic in daylight so that it's not that grainy. However, the light inside the house came out kind of weak on this one and not quite as warm and cozy as it was in the first. Should I replace the pic in the first post with this new one? Very nice interior lighting, that's from a light brick right? Yup. My only complaint would be that it could use something more Star Warsy. I'm not sure that a casual viewer who didn't read the intro would know that this is something from the Star Wars universe. Well, I was thinking about including a moisture vaporator or gonk droid in the scene, but I didn't want the shot to be too cluttered, especially since I wanted to convey the sense of loneliness. Besides, the shot is meant to appeal to SW-fans, so it doesn't really matter if the average Joe doesn't immediately recognize what theme it's from. Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Aw, that's wonderfully depressing. I like the way to tried to make the usually spherical roof of a Tatooine hut as round as possible! Quote
KingDom Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I love the picture but if I were you, I'd add one of those spherical 2x2 bricks with a single stud on top (like the ones in the side of the "battle for nabbo" droid carrier). I'm not sure it would fit with the colour scheme (hard to tell with low light! ), though. Quote
