The Yellow Brick Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Here is my newest MOC. A bike and tool shop. I did a bit of modifying to bike shop which was released with the 7641 City corner (Here) After reading a comment by KielDaMan in which he gave me a brilliant suggestion by extending the back and removing the roof, so here it is - I think I saw this bike rack idea here on Eurobricks Anyway as always C and C welcome Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Not bad at all 'The Red Brick', I like that it's all mounted on one of these odd bumpy base plates. Also it's a nice open back shop, but I have a question.......where are the tools or is this just really a bike shop ? Also the odd recording-keypad-white cupboard thing.....what is it ? Anyway it's a nice clean design, quite realistic too ! Brick On, 'The Red Brick' ! Quote

Thanks Lightningtiger, The tools are in a box infront of the counter (I'm making a stand for them to go on in the shop window.) The white cupboard is just to fill in the gap because I couldn't think of anything to put there at the time Quote
Modulex Guy Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Actually quite a nice way to use that raised baseplate. You need to put a bike on that little pedestal (black 8x8 disk) out front to complete the look. Keep on MOCing! Quote

Are you a mind reader , I am actually going to do that with the white bike from the 2011 police station or either put a quad bike there. Edited December 30, 2010 by The Red Brick Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 You could use my one of my favorite parts, the 1x4 brick with holes in the studs on top - makes a great tool holder ! (just look at my hardware store and you'll see how I do I make a tool rack with them) Also a motorcycle wouldn't go astray, it would be a nice and cool touch ! Brick On ! Quote
Jargo Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I really like the shop The Red Brick. I think the size and design is far better than the city corner effort. However, if I might offer my thoughts, it seems a little odd that a bicycle and motorcycle repair shop would be situated so high off the ground. In my humble experience places that deal with wheeled transport tend to be at ground level. Or at least have the repair side of the operation leading onto street level. I'm not critisising here. Just offering the thought that either your build could do with some kind of ramp or perhaps a split staircase leading to the shop that turns at right angles halfway up. As I said I love the shop itself I think you've done a great job. It's just the access for wheeled things I think needs looking at. Quote
buddy Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Great MOC! Both the exterior and interior of it are realistic and highly detailed. Very well done. ~buddy~ Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Wow, it's quite nice to know that you actually incorporated my humble suggestions to your MOC. And I must say this one looks much better now, I'm lovin' the use of that raised baseplate and interior details. Great job The Red Brick! Quote
HeLena Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I like this moc, but I think the shop is a bit empty. Quote

I will be adding some sort of ramp (or lift) which can take bike, motorcycles etc down onto the ground level. But where to put it is the problem It might just be easier to have a separate building with it connected to the shop like you said. but then again I wouldn't know where to put it again, maybe remove the shop sign and create a ramp leading down into the building. broomhandle Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I like it as well. but having worked at a bike shop. how would you wheel in and out a bike? i would not want to use the stairs! Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Nice bike shop! The design of the interior looks really nice. Thats what I was thinking of also. However, I think it wouldn't look good as it would be to steep, and wouldn't looks as nice in a City. I would say to have a ramp that starts at the bottom, a few studs away from the seats. Then bring it up to where that disk is, and curve the ramp around that. Possibly with a few slope bricks, bring it up to the same level as the shop. Add a door in the shop and its done. I know I'm not very clear on this idea, but I hope you can understand what I'n thinking! Quote

Fistach Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I love the shop - the interior is awesome. Nice idea to put bikes on the walls as they do in real shops! What I do not like is the baseplate - it's not painted like the really old ones and looks empty. Also a bike shop with stairs before the entrance is not a customer-friendly shop. Quote

I wish I had one of the older baseplate but this is the only one I had. I'm sure the customers wont mind going up some stairs Quote
