apemax Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I've had the 8275 Motorized Bulldozer for a couple of years now i think but noticed this maybe a year ago now. the front blade wouldn't go up anymore and it seemed to be the front clutch gear slipping. so i took the clutch gear out and replaced it with a normal 24 Tooth gear and it worked. so then i switched the two clutch gears around so the one from the back was at the front but i can't remember what happened then. i did do this a while ago now.it did have quite a bit of use when i first got it and it has been stood not being use for some time too. so i was wondering whether this has happened to anyone else or not? or if anyone knows why this happened? Alasdair Ryan Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 i did have it until takeing it apart for parts some people do complain on here about the clutch gears. i played with the plade a bit (moveed it forward) which gave me a bit more hight on the blade.i never had any trubble with the blade Quote
TechnicJuan Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I noticed a similar problem. It's just something that you have to expect over time. Just like in real equipment, things wear out and must be replaced. Quote
Chrizzle Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Hey! In my opinion it is not really strange that the clutch gears don't work properly after having been used for a long time. These parts are typically for decreasing their functions due to friction and abrasion! So it depends on how often you use your gears and at what load. Still I have to say it's a pity to have defect gears due to that, but no idea what lifetime TLG was planning for such parts. chrizzle Quote
apemax Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 yeah it did get quite a bit of use when i first got it. thanks for clearing that up for me. thanks all. Quote
FelixTheCat Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Mines done it pretty much from day 1. I fixed it by replacing the 2 same sized cogs behind the engine block with a small cog on the bottom and a big one on top. The blade moves up and down pretty slow but it's strong as an ox. Quote
allanp Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 This is partly what I have been saying about there being gearing down in the PF motors. It makes it so that the clutch gears are useless because they are expected to carry too much tourqe from the motor. They sould remove all the gearing down in PF motors so that we can do it ourselves and so that we can place the clutch gear further up the gearing down. Quote
DLuders Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 @ apemax: Since there is some variation in the amount of TORQUE in the 24-tooth Clutch Gear 60c01 (per this Eurobricks post), you could see what color the center of your Clutch Gear is and get one with a LIGHTER-colored center. Quote
