Here is my new modular building created with LDD.

It is based on a real building.

The only thing that annoys me is the two quarter plate gaps at the top left and right of the first floor.

Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Now that is a true historic Dutch building! It looks quite much like your reference building, the light blue in it gives it a nice effect.

I'm not sure about the red roof, it's quite bright I think. Dark blue would fit better. I really like the way you've created the window shutters.

One suggestion left: Build it in real bricks as well! :sweet:

A very nice representation of the real Dutch building in LEGO, Vincent Kessels.

I really like how you have build it, with the right amount of detail, especially the shutters look great. :classic:

I don't really know if I like those white rescue buoy as decoration, although I don't really know something else.

If you would build it in real bricks may I suggest to use dark red roof bricks, that red Doesn't really fit that well with tan and light blue.

That is a very nice LDD MOC Vincent! The design really captures the overall look of the real building based on the reference pic. I really like some unconventional techniques you've pulled-off there, particularly the half-stud-width building using the 1x2 jumper plates. It really gives you 'flexibility' in positioning some of the elements, like the curved top part of the window, which cannot be normally achieved using standard building techniques. Downside is, that very same technique might've caused your gap problem that you noted. But I'd still say it's just ok since it's not that noticeable. Great job overall and hope to see this realized in real brickbuild in the future.

After a lot of sorting I decided to work on my building again. It is still a work-in-progress. There are still some pieces missing and I want to add some Dark Red to the roof. I also want to add a chimney.

The biggest change I made to the design is the top window, which is not flush with the outside any more.

Really nice work, so-far.

It looks really great in bricks, and indeed as I suggested a dark red roof would look even better.

I like the change in the front facade top window, and look forward to see it completely finished.

Looking at your signature -- I want your Bookshop!!!! It is fantastic. Can I use it in my town? This is I think the best modular building I've seen. A corner structure, but at only 24-wide, it will fit in my layout so much better than the cafe corner type too-big buildings. I searched but don't see a thread on this building. It is adorable. Can I see what's inside?

This looks familiar.

I was last year in Gouda and a saw a building like this

It was just around the corner of the Van den Berg Bakery were they sell Van Vliet Stroopwafels.

They had some more nice buildings in that street.

Very well done. This is a very good moc.:classic:

Thanks, feel free to copy it. There is not much of an inside, but for more photos see my My flickr page.

Yep, that is the place.

That's a lovely building. The LDD looked good already, but the real thing always looks a lot better somehow.

It's quite small, but very complex. Especially the work around the large windows and the blue part just above it look clever done.

A nice addition to your city

This has turned out a very nice building. I always like versions made out of real bricks better, and this one is a very realistic of a very cute original.

You have managed to give the facade enough depth, within the constraints of Lego bricks and the original facade. And I like the colour scheme with a lot of tan.

Have you considered making up your own stickers to detail the fascia above the lower windows and also for the roundels?

I love your work- I've just been through your Flickr pages. Dutch townscapes really work well in Lego- since most layouts are flat, and the Dutch landscape is flatter than a very very flat thing- in fact when you first go to Holland and Belgium you really have to re-calibrate your brain to take in the endless flatness of it all. Your work, with its tall skinny buildings, really captures the 'feel' of Dutch towns. Particularly loved the ghost and skeleton next to the industrial greenhouse- reminds me of the time I was trying to locate a particular street in Berkel en Rhodenriis (spelling?) and ended up going round and round endless bloody greenhouses- I'm sure it is entirely possible that people have died trying to find their way around places like that and survive only as frustrated ghosts!
