As a first attempt it is a great effort and I think you pulled it off. It doesn't look to static and seems full of action. The little fort with the rock cliff is also a good addition for such a scene.

The posing of the minifigures is good and gives the feel of a crowded battle but not so crowded that you can't make out the individual minifigs. The small details are also very nice, including the little stream and gate which stands out against the background of grey.
