On a recent trip to Toys 'R' Us, I found some interesting LEGO merchandise in their video game department. With a little digging online I found some pictures and info.

Nintendo DS Game Card Cases

LEGO Classic Armor Case Starter Kit (contains armor case for Nintendo DSi, power adapter, LEGO stylus, and two game card cases-- also comes in red)

LEGO Harry Potter Armor Case Starter Kit (contains armor case for Nintendo DSi, LEGO stylus, minifigure, and two game card cases)

LEGO Harry POtter Play and Build Kit (two game card cases, a minifigure, and a LEGO stylus)

And while I'm here, here's some already-seen products by the same company:

LEGO Play and Build Wii Remote

LEGO Indiana Jones Armor Case (contains armor case for Nintendo DS Lite-- two varieties, one red and one black)

LEGO Star Wars Armor Case (too lazy to find a link-- same as the Indiana Jones one but with a Star Wars-themed image. Probably more than one variety)

So far, this sort of merchandise is exclusive to Nintendo products. But I wonder what else LEGO might have over the horizon.

My thoughts are mixed. The designs for these products are nice, but in most cases they are bulky. The DS game card cases, in particular, are very thick and seem to hold only one game each. This is very impractical for a handheld system, IMO. The stylus designs are also bulkier than the default stylus... but then again, some styluses marketing actual Nintendo brands are even bulkier! So I guess there are people out there who don't really mind.

Anyone else want to share their thoughts? What sort of video game accessories would you like LEGO branding on?

I think they're neat, even if for those printed tiles alone. Not really worth the money though. I don't like the new kind where the upper right corner is missing and that you can't get the HP case on its own. Also, I find it funny that they used white tiles with a different color printed on top of them instead of differently colored tiles. And yes, those game card cases do seem rather useless.

It would be awesome if they would release a Lego PS3 controller or PS Move wand, but I'm not sure if that would be even practical.

I'd like one of those, but it will be hard to incorporate plates and tiles on a controller with smooth lines. The Wii controller they made isn't too different in shape, so that's okay.
