Can I make a print for LEGO piece in LDD?

How?

I just can't look in Grievous and Clone troopers without print.

Thanks for any kind of help.

I don't think you can make a custom print on LDD. If you were to make one, it would require some serious hacking.

In the coding of an LXFML file, there's a space for the 5-digit ID number of a decoration. So you'd have to hack into LDD itself and assign false decoration ID numbers that could be applied in LXFs. Seems like a lot of work for me, but I'm not much of a hacker so I don't know whether someone more experienced might be able to figure that out with relative ease.

Also, for parts like Grievous's body, clone trooper's helmets, etc, it takes even more work, since there are no surfaces mapped for which decorations can be applied. So if you were to go into an LXFML file with one of those pieces, they wouldn't even have the spaces for decoration IDs. Best I can suggest is reporting a list of parts you'd like to see updated with printable surfaces in the LDD Bugs and Brick Errors topic. Obviously, it wouldn't take priority over actual errors, but the LDD crew might find time to enhance those parts in a future update.
