Just to shed a little light on the situation for anyone who's wondering - that is in fact the Swiss flag, or at least the inverse version of it. The flag you were trying to make, as Izzy correctly indicated, looks a bit like this. And don't make this your last post in the Pirates forum, it's too cool a forum to only visit once.

Could I perhaps propose the flag of England?

Which in Viking days of course was more or less Swedish/Danish/Norwegian anyway so I suppose it's an accurate mistake.

Viking days? Vikings belong in the History forum.

But it can go through as the flag of England, the navy flag it is.

And I agree with Captain Zuloo, this forum is way too cool to visit just once!

Why you mentioned this would be your last post in here is a mystery to me.

They raided the coasts, rivers and inland cities of all Western Europe as far as Seville, attacked by the Norse in 844. Vikings even attacked coasts of North Africa and Italy. They also plundered all the coasts of the Baltic Sea, ascending the rivers of Eastern Europe as far as the Black Sea and Persia. The lack of centralized powers all over Europe during the Middle Ages favoured pirates all over the continent.

The pirate forum is more dedicated to the pirates roaming the seas during the age of sail, roughly estimated between 1500-1800. There have been pirates as long as there are ships. For sure there were pirates during the middle ages, but they go to the History forum.

Almost all of the viking ships had sails. Oars were mostly used when wind was not an option and also for tight navigation.
