Praiter Yed Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 (edited) 'snip' Actually he ran into debris which caused an instrument malfunction and so he did't know he was too low and was easily targted by a turbolaser battery. But I'm sure you knew that. That picture never ceases to amuse me. Maybe Porkins would've avoided the debris had he not been so intoxicated? Really nice Thanks, you could download the lxf and add this to your amazing collection. (I can't find an emoticon for jealousy to insert here). Yes yes great job. I love the poem, and the speeder is cool too. Great job on this. It looks very accurate. On the other hand the poem is amazing. Thanks for sharing it and adding to the Christmas joy. Great job Thanks guys. I'll be absent for a short while so 'Happy Christmas to all...' Edited December 21, 2010 by Praiter Yed Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 (edited) That picture never ceases to amuse me. Maybe Porkins would've avoided the debris had he not been so intoxicated? I'll be absent for a short while so 'Happy Christmas to all...' Maybe he was flying low already; Wookieepedia says Porkins favored the low strafe attack. If you blow something up in space, the debris will obviously expand in all directions, and at that distance and speed, it would probably only take a fraction of a second to long pulling up to fly through some if not a lot of the debris. Erich Hartmann, the most successful flying ace ever, favored a similar tactic of getting in close and then unloading on the enemy who usually didn't know he was there. Although he was never shot down, he had to make emergency landings multiple times after flying through a debris cloud he created. ...and to all a good night! Praiter Yed Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 With six months since my last Star Wars MOC I had high hopes for this Christmas Bump, I had intended a brick built vignette of the whole 'Santa Porkins' scene (the main reason for making my Porkins custom figure) but alas, a self imposed (read 'the wife') limit on my BL spending has made this impossible (maybe next year eh ). I think I may still legitimately bump this festive topic though with the following alterations/additions; I finalised my Personnel Carrier with the missing 1x8 tiles and with more tan coloured cheese becoming readily available was also able to build a second repulsorlift craft (both grey and tan versions can be spotted on Yavin IV)... But what I am most happy about is that on one of my rare BL orders I was able to snag some of these htf white visors to 'smooth out' the rebel helmet... Quote
Mr Man Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I got a little worried when I first saw the date of 2009 on the first post thinking someone had bumped a previous christmas topic just so say 'woo cool job man' or something similar, but it turned out it's a great bump with a really great looking tan version of the carrier to go with the grey version. Fallenangel Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 These are the kinds of bumps I like - I don't know how I missed this. It's admirable that you've put so much effort into refining this one small MOC, and the result does not fall short in the slightest – clean and solidly built, and just about the right size for minifigures. This sort of thing is really the best thing about the AFOL community. And with the issue of lazy posters that has risen lately I am ever so glad that an example of it was not the case for this bump. Quite the opposite, in fact... Quote
Hollander Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 What I like about this is it's simplicity yet it's accuracy and finished look. It looks like a fan improved version of an official lego Star Wars set. The great minifigures with their smoothed out helmets are perfected, and are the finishing touch for your project. Especially the tan version is great though. Any plans on combining those vehicles in a larger scene? Quote

Any plans on combining those vehicles in a larger scene? Thanks Hollander. My dream is to build a full minifig scale Massassi temple complete with Hanger, War Room, Briefing Room, Throne Room and all the vehicles etc. I've come to realise that this may be a little ambitious and either a) lack of bricks*, b) the coming of a second dark-age or c) death from old age, may prevent me from fulfilling my dream. You can however, expect to see some Yavin IV vignette and/or dioramas from me at some point in the future. *If I combine my Lego collection with enough mashed potato I'll have the raw materials to build this. M<0><0<DSWIM Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Beautiful work, man! The design of that thing is spot-on and the poem is great and gave me a laugh! Very nice for a first post. Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 For a vehicle that gets very little screen time, you've done a great job of building it. Quote

Thanks MOODSWIM. I'd forgotten that (aside from the odd competition entry) this was the first time I'd posted a MOC here - ah the memories. For a vehicle that gets very little screen time, you've done a great job of building it. Thanks Masked. It may have little screen time but imagine if these vehicles hadn't been around to transport pilots, droids, torpedos etc to their X-Wing/Y-Wings. The end of ANH could have been very much darker and the Empire would have had no reason to 'strike back'. There have been many rather nice MOCs of this vehicle prior to mine, notable ones being by Baronsat and HJR Quote
