Cygnet Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 As Omi mentioned, I have a couple of custom projects I'm working on, one of which is a custom minifigure of the Shippuden version of Naruto. Tin_7 has made a fantastic custom version of this figure already, but I wanted to give it a shot with some different approaches. The idea I was testing here was to fuse BrickForge Hero Hair and a LEGO bandanna (the one that hands down from the head post). BrickForge had a clearance sale on dark gray elements, hence why I'm using this color and not tan or yellow. The Hero Hair was cut with a saw and then sanded down, pretty much to the tube. The bandanna only needed to be sanded down. The bandanna actually sits on the head 'upside-down'. The parts aren't glued yet. That's why there's a gap. I also need to do a Brasso treatment to remove the scratches. I have a feeling there could still be a small gap between the parts. Does anyone have a recommendation for how best to seal it? I was actually pretty pleased at how this turned out. The bandanna has enough space on the front for the clan symbol and doesn't obscure the face print too much. I still want to experiment with the Pirates head wrap to see if I can achieve a similar effect. I also want to try to take the bottom part of the hair and fuse it to the back of the headband if possible. Questions and comments welcome. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I must say that's a very good job fusing those two pieces together Cygnet. I understand how hard it is to saw those two different pieces and making them fit together, and the end result is quite seamless. Maybe you should just use a simple clear superglue to join them, using the minimum amount as possible. Once the glue has set, maybe you could color the 'glue space' with the color of the bandana or that of the hair to remove any visible glue. Quote
Omicron Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Well makes sense as to why you aren't using the yellow hair. :P Aside from gluing the seams, you can also paint over them since paint can also help hold it together. Maybe spraypaint the whole thing yellow/tan, then touch up the bandana with bandana color. Hopefully it comes out well whatever route you take. :) -Omi Quote
