KyleJohnson11 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Hey guys and ladies! I got some pieces in the mail today for the Tualatin Clutcher's field. Right now I am working on building the field. Then the stadium will show up around it Stadium construction team picture Left to right: Worker, Pitcher Kyle Johnson, Team Owner Eric Erickson, Manager Chip Holiday, Worker. Picture is being taken by Veronica Corningstone, team beat writer. Another view Aerial view from the field. As usual, check my Flickr in my signature for more pictures! Thanks! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Very interesting so far, it's going to be BIG isn't it eh ? Can't wait to see the next installment and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
exon_from_youtube Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I just cant wait to see what the batter cage looks like great job so far Quote
romdam Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I just want to see a batter swing the bat. Are they all going to bunt or just swing one handed? Quote
DRM Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Makes me think of the film Field of Dreams. Build it and they will come..... Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Interesting development! I'm certainly looking forawrad for the completion of this project. Nice work and keep it up KyleJohnson! Quote
RoryoCox Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I will be very interested to see this project advance. The start is very good and hopefully you can get the full stadium done. I say good luck to you and hope to see the next stage soon. Quote
Cancerkitty Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Now this has loads of potential. I can't wait to see how this build pans out. Quote
The_Box Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Veronica Corningstone?? did no one else get the reference? though, her hair should have been blond. haha This looks like it will be an awesome build. Quote
exon_from_youtube Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) if my calculations are correct this will take one full and five quarter base plates to complete the field. If this is so the the stadium may take twelve full base plates.... Holy cow that is a total of thirteen full and five quarter base plates.... If he completes this with major details and keep it correct, it may contain over 15-20 thousand bricks I will be forever impressed for this build if it is completed.... Wow 40 inches by 40 inches of building (not including the parking lot) keep bricking... this one is going to be interesting to say the least Edited December 8, 2010 by exon_from_youtube Quote
buddy Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 It looks great so far, it will be big when completed! I agree that there is a lot of potential in this creation. Well done so far. ~buddy~ Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Bah! Erickson's gotta stop spending so much money on facilities and invest in his on-field talent! He can't expect to let all those free agents slip away and still win the pennant!!! And if my season ticket premiums go up again I swear I'm just gonna watch the games on the new plasma widescreen TV at the police station... Edited December 8, 2010 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote

If this is so the the stadium may take twelve full base plates.... Holy cow that is a total of thirteen full and five quarter base plates.... My baseball stadium covers 9 plates (3x3), and I feel like it's too small. In retrospect, I wish I'd gone with 4x4, but that would have taken a huge bite out of the available real estate in my town. Good luck with your project! I'm curious to see how it ends up!! Quote

KyleJohnson11 Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 Very interesting so far, it's going to be BIG isn't it eh ? Can't wait to see the next installment and I'm a conformist! ! It will be very big :) I am thinking 3x3 for the field its self. With the stadium around it, I could see it going to 4x4 easily. Right now I invision it being the center piece to my city. Hopefully when series 4 minifigures come out I can convert it into a football field and use the hockey should pads and helmet to make a team. I think team owner Eric Erickson would love to diversify his assets and invest in a football team. I just cant wait to see what the batter cage looks like great job so far Thank you. I am thinking I am a few installments from the infastructure around the field. My goal right now is to get the basics of the field shape done, then go from there :) I just want to see a batter swing the bat. Are they all going to bunt or just swing one handed? This is one thing I've struggled with the most. As of right now, I've only done one handed swings. Maybe there will not be very many pictures of guys using bats ;) Makes me think of the film Field of Dreams. Build it and they will come..... Thank you very much! I love the reference. Interesting development! I'm certainly looking forawrad for the completion of this project. Nice work and keep it up KyleJohnson! Thank you! I am looking to add a little more this weekend. Hopefully start adding the dirt for the infield. I will be very interested to see this project advance. The start is very good and hopefully you can get the full stadium done. I say good luck to you and hope to see the next stage soon. Thank you very much! It will be a tricky project. It took a few trial and errors to get the batting circle around homeplate with the chalk lines how I wanted it. The pitchers mound was also a little tricky. My next big hurdle will be the infield diamond. After that is done, the rest of the field should be pretty straight forward. As of right now, I'm just going off of ideas and visuals in my head :) There is a Wrigley Field that somebody made a facebook for that is done very well. It will be very helpful when I get into the stadium design. Now this has loads of potential. I can't wait to see how this build pans out. Thank you! I'll be sure to keep everyone posted with updates. Just wish I had some construction LEGOs to make it look like more people were working on it :) Veronica Corningstone?? did no one else get the reference? though, her hair should have been blond. haha This looks like it will be an awesome build. I'm glad you got it :) Blonde did cross my mind. My wife said go with the black hair with the flower (Hula Girl series 3) if my calculations are correct this will take one full and five quarter base plates to complete the field. If this is so the the stadium may take twelve full base plates.... Holy cow that is a total of thirteen full and five quarter base plates.... If he completes this with major details and keep it correct, it may contain over 15-20 thousand bricks I will be forever impressed for this build if it is completed.... Wow 40 inches by 40 inches of building (not including the parking lot) keep bricking... this one is going to be interesting to say the least It will be a big project and will take some time and finances. Right now it is a pay as I go project :) I will complete the project though. Just not sure how long it will take to complete everything... Then again, I'm sure I'll always be adding to it. Teams are always adding to their ballparks :) It looks great so far, it will be big when completed! I agree that there is a lot of potential in this creation. Well done so far. ~buddy~ Thank you very much! Bah! Erickson is doing his best to hold ticket prices where they currently are. If the tax payers would pass some of the bonds to build the field, you wouldn't have to worry about the ticket prices. The free agents are a different story. My inside information tells me there is some talent in the minors :) My baseball stadium covers 9 plates (3x3), and I feel like it's too small. In retrospect, I wish I'd gone with 4x4, but that would have taken a huge bite out of the available real estate in my town. Good luck with your project! I'm curious to see how it ends up!! Joebot, I love your stadium! It looks great! I appreciate the words. I am sure as I get more into it I will have more questions for you. Again, thank you everyone! Quote

lightningtiger Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I never knew you could use a baseball field to play Grid Iron or as I like to call it throw-ball because it gets thrown more than kicked ! If this is going to be the centre piece of your city it will be HUGE, might I suggest a light electric rail system to run to and thro of the sports park. Keep on going.....I'm a conformist! ! Quote
prateek Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) Looking good so far. I'm curious to see how big you make this. I personally made one minifig scale in LDD, and it was probably around 6x6 (I don't quite remember). It was pretty big, and it crashed my LDD Edited December 8, 2010 by prateek Quote

There are a few stadiums in the states that are used by both Major League Baseball teams and National Football League teams. There is one in Oakland and Miami that I know off of the top of my head. It used the be a lot more common until all these teams started asking for new fields. I do love the idea of a light rail! I will need to invest after the field is complete :) Looking good so far. Mrlegoninja Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 It looks like a good start! I hope to see the finshed version soon! Quote
jonwil Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Great looking stadium so far. And yes it does remind me of "Field Of Dreams" (a great film, saw it on the TV the other day) Quote

If you are going to build a rail system, yes,do it after you are finished. Also, where I live in Cincinnati Ohio,we used to have our football and baseball teams playing in the same stadium until the Bengals thretened to leave[and I wish they did leave]if they did not get a new stadium, but the reds were fine with the the old stadium, but they got a new one anyway. That made many people angry they had to pay for the cost of TWO new stadiums in their taxes Quote
KyleJohnson11 Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Hey all, I started the third base side of the infield. I am out of parts right now and waiting for a big order to come in from Bricklink (any recommended sellers?) I have put in all three bases and home plate. I made a makeshift stands area. The one for the actual stadium will be a lot bigger and more robust For right now, here is a picture! Quote
