eMHa Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I have both the 8258 and the 8043. If you plan to own both, start with the 8258 as it may get hard to find soon at a good price. I think I enjoyed building the 8258 more than the 8043. The excavator seems more fun to play with than the crane truck. I've done so! I wanted to get 8043 for christmass, but it wasn't available (now) for me (in germany). So I shortly redecided that I have to get 8258 (first). I'm now very amazed about how much parts are in the box! The first time I thought the box has to be this size to hold all the parts. I'll begin to build 8258 tomorrow but have opened the box today. The instructions were packed inside a plastic bag, great! One of my sons said I have to get 8043 for Easter. Quote
Out of Sight Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Both the 8258 and 8043 are display masterpieces. They both look good on the shelf. Turn on the PF switch and things turn in favor of the 8043. The 100% fully remote operated features on the 8043 in a stock set is just amazing, if you're agile with the remote toggles, the 8043 has that 'high tech robotic movement feel' to it..much like those automated robots at manufacturing plants. all those body panels with the carefully thought PF battery box placement which mimics engine hoods on these diesel monsters make for one of the best lifelike looking Technic to date. I bought the revised set of 8043 in early December, it has updated LA's and other revisions, performs admirably. As one member stated, he bought two because the 8043 is that good. I couldn't agree more. I will buy another 8043 just so I can have both the A and B model at the same time. And yes, I'll be getting 8258 too later. Quote
davidmull Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 I agree and I also love my 8043 ,I bought both a few weeks back but still have to built the crane truck yet,I think 8043 looks very well on the rear of 8258 like riens.I'm also considering buying a second 8043 for the b model,I'm glad I bought the truck now because there now all sold out of shops in Ireland lately and I got one of the last on the shelf! Pauger Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 (edited) Both sets are magnificent. Just got two 8258 for 160 euros, and 8043 for 100 euros on bricklink. If you ever bump into such bargain, go for it! Edited January 2, 2011 by Pauger Quote
