Greetings, fellow Potter fans! In order to kick off Harry Potter Month ( :sweet: ), I present to you my latest Potter MOC. It's a scene from the movie adaption of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince where Hermione orders the flock of canaries she had conjured to keep her company to attack Ron because he was dating Lavender Brown at the time, much to her disgust. Harry later comforted her and told her this was the same way he felt about seeing Ginny together with Dean.

I haven't seen the movie yet so I'm not familiar with the scene, but I must say the flock of canaries are really cleverly done. The facial expression of the characters are perfect for the scene too. Good job on this HP MOC Oky!

Nice interpretation of the scene, Oky.

The canaries should, of course, be yellow which lets down the scene a little, but the characters are good and the corridor is well-made. The use of old and new greys looks good too.

Great contribution to Harry Potter month!

Loved that part. Great work on the moc, too!

Ooh. Just noticed the epaulettes as wings! Way to go!

Quite nice MOC!

Strangely I don't remember this particular scene in the film, although I have seen the latter. Oh well, I probably shouldn't have had so much of that unidentified white... jesus, what am I saying? Anyway, I vividly remember it from the book at least and I would say you've captured the feel of the scene pretty well.

I like the use of minifig hands for the birds' beaks.

Isn't Lavender blonde, though?

This Creation is O-U-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G !

As A Harry Potter lover through and through, and a huge fan of Half Blood Prince. I absolutly loved this MOC. As a Builder and Brickfilmer ( I am doing the Half Blood Prince in LEGO and I still need to do this scene ) This really inspired me. :classic:

I really like the characters' expressions, and The Custom Lavender Brown fits her Human Incarnation perfectly ! The Canaries are awesome too, I truly do love them  , Your own personnal design, I trust ? The Room Itself looks great too. The round Staircase looks kinda like the movie, and we can easely recognise the scene. I think the roof/sealing still needs some work but the nice and simpel floor design makes up for it.

This is an awesome Creation and deserves and excelent Nine outta ten 9/10

Thanks, but to be fair, I borrowed the techniques for the birds from SlyOwl. You really should watch the movie; it's one of the best!

Yeah, trust me, I tried to find a way to make them yellow, but unless I would have used the epaulets idea for all of them (which I didn't want to do), there was no way. :sceptic:

Very nice Oky! The room just has that Harry Potter feel. Can't wait to read about this.

Thanks, I tried to make it as Hogwarts-ish as possible. For the window, I tried to recreate one of those Hogwarts-typical gothic arches. It didn't work out as well as I had hoped, but still works.

But what do you mean, "read about it"? You mean you haven't even read the book yet? I hope I didn't give any spoilers. :look:

Maybe you should watch it (again) too. It's quite hilarious when Ron stumbles in with Lavender and says "What's with the Birds" and finds himself being attacked by them in the next moment. The rest of the scene is rather touching, so they did a good job at balancing humor with tragedy.

Yes, but this hairpiece fit so well for her that I just had to use it, and since I'm a purist, I wont paint it. Besides, it's more of a dark blond anyway.

Thanks, glad you like it. :classic: As I said, the bird design wasn't originally mine, but yes, Lavender is from me, even though The Penguin's custom Lavender looks very similar.

As for the roof, I intended this to be kind of a cross section and only added the stairs and hallway for some extra depth. I didn't know what to do for the top, so I just left it as it is.

Happy Harry Potter Month everyone! :sweet:

Sure. Of course I didn't think you'd make them white without good reason. It's hard to make small things so accurately on such a scale. :classic:

Great MOC! I love the birds, and personally, I think the original Hermione hair looks better than the one they use in the official sets. Your Lavendar Brown is exactly the same as mine! The room is great, and all the little details you have put in make it an excellent little scene. Well done!

Great MOC! Both the scene and the minifigs are accurate. I particularly like the way you have made the birds. :classic:

Very well done.

Excellent creation 'Oky Wan', very clever designing those little birds.....I would be more worried if they drop messages from heaven !

I actually can't wait to start seeing MOC's based around HP7 Pt.1 .....even I might give one a go (note - I high suggest you see HP7 - very dark and has in my opinion an Empire Strikes Back feel with said darkness, the running, the hiding, etc.,.)

Keep on casting spells !

Thanks everyone!

I would be more worried if they drop messages from heaven !

That would be bad too, yes, but considering that they were "pecking and clawing at every bit of flesh they could reach" as it says in the book, I think this is bad enough.

Well, then you'll be glad to know that my next MOC is indeed based on that movie!

Some more fun facts about this MOC:

- The title of the MOC is the same as that of the chapter on the HBP DVD that depicts this scene.

- In case you haven't noticed already, Ron's head is the one from the keychain, and the bird on his head is attached to the pin that comes out of it.

- Unlike in my humorous Spell Practice MOC, I intentionally used solely gray parts for the scenery in order to capture the sad undertone of the scene.

Ha, great little facts indeed. I was already wondering what was on Ron's head

I knew the DVD title, but just didn't think off it I guess...

But the use of only Grey, which I hadn't noticed, I s great, fopr some reason it just seems so normal. Our eye are probably like machines, they see, they know it, but they don't recognize it

Impressive Creation!

While the grey walls dont quite do it for me, the room has a great layout! I remember that staircase, and it is located accurately.

What really sparks this creation is the figs. I love the expressions of the characters! Lavender has a great hairpiece, it reminds me of the movies. The birds were excellently done as well!

Siriusly, when can we expect more works!

Sirius (I am  )

Great scene, Oky Wan Kenobi! You've captured the films scene very well. I like the position of the figures and that hairpiece works very well for Lavender. I like the birds, all yellow would have been nice but the colour pallet limits it. Great usage of a key chain figure, you proved they can be useful! I must say the usage of grey parts works really well to capture the emotional atmosphere. Awesome job, I'm looking forward to your Deathly Hallows creation! :sweet:
