Its not done yet, but im excited to announce i have found a strand of LED lights that run on 3AA batteries that can easily be hidden in the ship. I will run the led's through the hold, captains/first officers cabins and the transparent yellow pieces that are usually used as pirate lamps fit perfectly over the bright white led's to give it a super real effect. I am surprised that there are no other ships on here that have the lamp effect, imagine how cool this will look through the lattice cabin windows at night!

changing batteries would be fun unless you had a purpose built ship and plumbing it all in could get super messy but that said I'd love to see it done...... just worry about melted LEGO hahah :pir_laugh2:

Here is a sample from the back of my sculls eye schooner mk 2. messing around with ways to use the led's before getting the massive MOC underway. Will have alot of lattice windows and huge cabins that are proporional to the ship. No need to worry about meltin legos, the LED's run super super cool. Looks great from all angles, ill try to get more pics up.

Here are some more pictures, lookin through the hinged side, and the cabin door.

It actually wont be too hard, using technic plates with the holes (the lights fit perfectly) and a few hollow legos the green cord will be completely sealed. I can actually fit the battery box under the 'new school' ship bottoms since its flat. Pretty excited for this build!

This is pretty cool. I'm sure the pictures don't do it justice.

Totally not, it looks soooo cool in real life in a black room. I would love to upload more better res photos but the 100k attachment limit is keeping me from doing that. The new MOC will dominate this one since it will be much larger and designed to accomidate these LED's

Wow, that is amazing....I especially like the idea of an illuminated stern. Well done, well done!

Agreed. That looks brilliant :pir-classic: I also like the look of the light on the floor, coming out of the captain's cabin.

Nice idea. I'm also thinking of putting it in my new ship, but I haven't even started with the ship yet so it's just thoughts now.

Anyway, nice idea.

After a few revisions messing around with flame and other color and intensities of light. A drinking party below decks and the captain drinking with his first officer :)

I have 1 guy climbing the net with a lamp and exchanged the over intense yellow lanterns for some flames on the sides. Rum drinkin pirates need good light.

L.E.D's consume practically no energy so a battery should rum them for well over a year depending on how often you have them on.

Also L.E.D's don't produce any heat so there is no fear of melting LEGO.

Using Eurobricks as an image hosting site is a bad idea since you are allowed so little space.

You need to upload your pictures to an external hosting site like brickshelf or my favorite Flickr.

Ya this is actually not the MOC that i plan on going hardcore with the LED's on. This is just an experiment to find the right colors and intensities of lights.

Ill get an account on brickshelf here in the next few days and upload the LED set i used as well as how i plan on hiding them in the ship itself. Its perfect since the LED's fit exactly into the lantern slots :) I am all about detail so the final MOC may take a little time but it will be worth it. Ill keep updating every other day or so..
