Seluryar Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) i like this truck, but i havent had a chance to build the trailer, i dont think i will build it any time soon. i added the motor to the inside of the truck to power the engine, but not the wheels, but this was the intention. then i added the battery box to the rear and then added a cover to the back of the truck. this is my first modification to a technic model . the battery box is controlled by the axle sticking out the top at an angle, i have also mounted the front wheel turner a little higher, but there is some friction when turn the wheels due to the proximity of the battery box Edited December 3, 2010 by Seluryar Quote
Seluryar Posted December 4, 2010 Author Posted December 4, 2010 i have gone and made a few alterations. turned the battery box around for easier access. and i have added 2 universal joints to the axle from the motor to the engine as one of these images will show that theres an angle between the motor and engine sorry about the quality of this last image but it still shows the angle this modification was using only pieces from the set it came in Quote
Seluryar Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 made a little trailer for this truck, started out with the instructions, but then turned away from them within a few steps. again, i only used pieces that came with the set. Quote
DLuders Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) @ Seluryar: Your 8258 Alternate Build has nice, clean lines! It is an attractive, colorful combination. The truck looks better than the standard, 8258-2 "B-Model" does (see pictures below): Did you alter that little blue car on the trailer too, or is it a standard 8214 LEGO Racers Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia models exclusive to Toys-R-Us? Seems like the regular one. I just roughly counted studs width on the trailer (~15 studs) and lambo is (~14 studs). Pretty cool creation! Quote
Seluryar Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 did not modify the lambo at all, but, it just barely fits between the 2 beams sticking up on the edges Quote
Seluryar Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 added a gear to the axle that goes from the motor to the engine to catch the existing gear below it from the original model so that the wheels move as well as the engine pistons. as i have done this, i noticed that it is possible to strip some gears, so i have raised the rear wheels off of the ground so that the model can stay in place while being operated. i wish to purchase whatever is needed to make it remote controllable Quote
DLuders Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 i wish to purchase whatever is needed to make it remote controllable You will need an 8885 Power Functions Remote Control and 8884 Power Functions Receiver (shown on this Lego.com website): Wire everything up like this: Quote
