So very cute-- I know I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for it, but I'd still love to see TLG produce a Nativity Scene!!

Mary, Joseph, an angel, three shepherds, a few sheep, three kings/wise men, a camel or two, a cow, a donkey, and of course the star of the show, the Christ child! Maybe even throw in a few random brick-built set props, like a manger, a stall with hay bales, or a stone backdrop.

They will never.... as much as the City of NY does not want that mosque near ground zero....

It may offend people....

Also why you dont see church/religious based toys at TRU "it may offend people"

Shhhhoooot, I went there to dig in the first shipment of minifiggs today and needed to pick up a Hanukkah Card as well.... Nope just stupid Xmas cards every place....

The only thing I like about the holidays is SALES! OMG, the sales are awesome..

Any ways back on topic.... The MOC looks great, Not my thang, but you can feel the respect you are trying to represent in it... great job

Keep bricking and have a happy holiday

This has got me into the christmas spirit. Great pic, although I dunno why santa is there .

Thanks, CB

Glad to hear it! It's a famous image, at least here in the States. It's usually accompanied by a Biblical reference of "Every knee shall bend (to Christ)". It's meant as a reminder as to the true reason for Christmas.

Great picture! It has made me get into the Christmas spirit too.

Well done. :classic:

~buddy~

Thanks!

It'd be nice, but there's nothing holding you back from building your own, and I would imagine we, the AFOLs, could do better than what LEGO would produce.

I don't see why LEGO couldn't make a Nativity scene if they're making Advent calendars. The people that would be offended by Nativity scenes they don't have to buy made by a company they don't own a part of should already be offended by Advent calendars (advent is Christian). Heck, those people should already be offended LEGO does Santa and Christmas Tree sets. One of my fellow TexLUGgers has a Menorah that was built by LEGO as some sort of store display (it's glued, IIRC).

Aw, that's cute ! :sweet:

Very simple creation, yet quite beautiful.....great work 'SavaTheAggie' and keep on feeling that holiday spirt ! :sweet:

Thanks much!

I can't see an official set every being offered. As Exon states, it might offend/alienate.

Great MOC though.

Thanks!

A simple but beautiful little vig SavvaTheAggie! It's really wonderful to see how few pieces and creativity could create a such a lovely scene. Truly a masterful work! default_thumbup.gif

Thanks much! It really was a spur-of-the-moment type of thing, but it was a lot of fun to put together.

I think you are missing the point. It's not because they couldn't do it. They _don't wish to_ offend. Their values are that LEGO should be free of overtly religious symbols. While I agree that the advent calender is an inherently religious custom many people see it simply as a countdown to Christmas which they celebrate without thinking too much about the religious meaning.

In my mind freedom of religion includes the ability for you, I or TLG to decide how far to take freedom from religion too.
