MattTheLegoman Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Introducing a new licensed fantasy historic theme: LEGO Lord of the Rings. Inspired by Elander's comprehensive and lengthy list of Lord of the Rings sets at http://www.eurobrick...opic=38032&st=0 First we have the set Weathertop Besieged, it is completed enough for me, however, I am still unsure about the minifig statues (would be expensive?) and if there is anything else I have mistaken: - Weathertop (Large set) Ruins of Amon Sul, statues, camp fire, 3 Nazgul, Frodo, Strider with a torch. Detail of statues Detail of back side (But probably the front for the set box) (Apparently I only have a 100kb usage for this topic? So I have kept it under even with three pictures.) The set list I am using for The Fellowship of the Ring - A Long Expected Party (small) Bag End, Bilbo Baggins, Sackville-Baggins, rockets, and 2 party pavillions. - Weathertop (large) - Elronds house (small) Elrond, Awen(movie)?/Glorfindel(book)?, Legolas, table for ring, small Elvish building - Balin's Tomb (medium) Battle set, 3 goblins, cave troll, Gimli, Gandalf, and Frodo, Strider. - Battle of Amon Hen (medium) Battle set, Merry, Pippin, Boromir, 3 Uruk-Hai, 1 Lurtz (guy with crossbow in movie), and Amon Hen ruins (How to do that throne?). Minifigs and work done on other sets coming soon. Quote
Baylego Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Is this a real series of sets or a MOC series? If it is a MOC, than it is looking really cool! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Excellent LOTR LDD MOC! The Weathertop looks pretty accurate to the one in the movie. Quote
prateek Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Very nice! If you have more, I'd advise you to start up a Brickshelf or Flickr account to host your pictures, since EB only allows 100kb. Quote
CommanderFox Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) Wow, looking great! I think you have done a really good job with this, Weather top has got to be one of the most thrilling scene's in the first movie, and i've always loved it. Can't wait to see what you make with these other set ideas, should be exciting! Oh, and I agree with Prateek, think about getting a Brickshelf, or a Flickr, much easier than just uploading to EB, and you can show more pics! CF Edited November 26, 2010 by CommanderFox Quote
MattTheLegoman Posted November 28, 2010 Author Posted November 28, 2010 (edited) To Baylego: Sorry for the misinformation: it will be a series of sets designed by me, so they are My Own Creations. Then: Thanks Baylego, KielDaMan, prateek, and CommanderFox for your comments, much appreciated! Here is my new Flickr account with the photos Matt The Lego Man 's Flickr Photos Also: LDD isn't as good as real LEGO, however, I love LDD in that I have the ability to create and design whatever I can imagine. For Extra: Here is a snippet of a design I have of Gondolin: Gondolin, from The Book of Lost Tales Edited November 28, 2010 by MattTheLegoman Quote
Baylego Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Thanks for the clarifications. That preview looks awesome! Quote
Mr Man Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Well MattTheLegoman if this was a Lego set I would buy it like a shot.Good job on the scene. Lego missed a huge trick, and a lot of money when they didn't acquire a license for TLOTR. Maybe with the Hobbit film coming out they might get one. Quote
Darth Yogi Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 This Looks really good. I really like the statue, its very nice. Great job Quote
MattTheLegoman Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 (edited) Now to post up what I have finished so far, an update. The Council of Elrond Battle for Balin's Tomb See this image at Flickr. Thanks for the comments! Edited November 30, 2010 by MattTheLegoman Quote
Elander Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Hi, :) the sets are all really very beauty and are designed very well. I give you some tips for the minifigures. The Wheatertop: If you have white torsos, legs and a white head in this programm -than you can build maybe white Nazguls with golden crowns. Ok they would not have a face and no details, but i think that would not be so a problem. Balins Tomb: Goblins are smaller as orcs. I would give this goblins short legs (like dwarfs or hobbits). For next scenes/locations: -Orcs and uruk-hais would to get long legs (like elves or men)! -A Long Expected Party (small): Do you have red/orange transpared bricks? If yes -than you could to hint (imply) us the fireworkdragon. The fireworkdragon must not be good. It would be just a hint. Now i to wait eagerly on the next sets. Very beauty work. Really! Greetings, Elander Quote

Greetings, Elander Elander: This is Universe Mode dreaming on LEGO Digital Designer, almost any brick you can imagine with almost any colour LEGO has produced. However thanks for the tips!!! I like your idea of having the moria goblins smaller, will update that tomorrow. (Its late where I am.) I agree with your idea for the Uruk-Hai and Orcs. Since this is just a design on LDD I will definitely make you a FireWorkDragon! That part of the movie was fun. Any more requests I will try to do, however it would draw time from my main project. By the way, I have already made the Nazgul - in transparent white and light green. P.S. Also: Edited November 30, 2010 by MattTheLegoman Quote
Elander Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Elander: This is Universe Mode dreaming on LEGO Digital Designer, almost any brick you can imagine with almost any colour LEGO has produced. Impressive! Can you with this program create transparent/blue horses. I mean: Can you give the LEGO-horses a transparen/blue colour? -If yes, than you could create the action-scene at the Ford of Bruinen. I see Frodo, Arwen/Glorfindel and the Nazguls do you have. What you need are some rocks, small blue/transparent bricks and the blue/transparent waterhorses. That would be awesome if you could do this. Sticker-question: Is it with this program possible to design stickers? -Or is it possible pictures from other programs to take in this program (as a sticker-motive)? It would be amazing if it is possible to design and create the Gate of Moria with a in dark (moonlight) shining sticker! LED-question: Gandalf have a in dark shining wand. Is it possible Gandalf to give a LED lightup-function like Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi (see LEGO lightsaber duel-set). Ok, the problem is LEGO have never produced a wand were the tip is shining, but with the LED-lightsabers would it be possible to hint this possibility. -ok, I think it would be easier to create the Witchking with the Flamesword. Here we would not have a sword, but with the LED-lightsaber it could be a better hint. I am very excitedly of your next shots. I like the picture with the white nazguls and the transparent/invisible Frodo-minifigure. I dont no if the nazgules must be green/transparent. The King of Death and the Army of Death is green/white transparent in shining colours. The print and the material for the King of Death must be very special. I belive every LEGO-Designer would it love to design his body. -the FireWorkDragon from "A Long Expected Party" in red/orange transparent colours must not be perfekt. That must just be a hint. With the Fireworkdragon would be the set "A Long Expected Party" complete. Greetings, Elander Quote
