lego-maniac Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) EDIT / END OF THE PROJECT : All the story HERE Hello all ! Well I know in advance that my remarks are likely to shock more than one in the forum but I must say I'm in a bad mood! Why? for the simple reason that I spent too much time on the net to watch "corner modular house moc" and my conclusion is:! Modular corner house sucks ! Explain to me how a child can play while the roof of his house is placed in the garden and when he's forced to make his minifig fly to move it from kitchen to living room ? I hope this introduction a bit original will not prevent you from watching my last moc still in progress and give me your opinion on several points. It looks like a doll house. The moc is build on two 16*32 base plate linked and could been opened. It could size 32*32 or 16*64 ! Here is some pics taken with my phone... (I know iPhone is not a camera but it's so easy !) Front View : Back View : opened view : Inside View : First, the upper part of the front does not suit me. I don't know if it's due to the roof or to the color ... The window panes are temporary, I'll use this window instead : balck and white tiles outside has been removed Yellow and red part seen when the moc is opened has been replaced by grey parts! nothing has been done inside, I expect to be satisfied with the exterior first. I think I'll try to lool more closer at the work of Katie Walker to try to make a moasaic on the floor. ( I'm looking for comments on the external view : too much details, colors, windows, roof or something else. EDIT of Nov 14 : Hi all again, I've work on my house few hours and I want to show you the evolution : Front View Back View The house opened : To acceed with my camera to interior, I've decide to make modular panel like this : this way I could make later nice pic like that (this ones has been shoot quickly, without light) All furnitures are studed to the floor : And then, put inside the house : Same thing for the kitchen To be continued for the second floor ;) Edited December 22, 2010 by lego-maniac Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Wow great its like a mini doll house. I love the way it opens up and the tiling on the second floor. Now all it needs is some furniture Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Very nice creation 'lego-maniac', that SNOT upstairs floor is quite cool ! Keep going and of course I'm a conformist! ! Quote
buddy Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Very good dolls house, lego-maniac. It looks very realistic and accurate; just like the real thing. I particularly like the tiled floors. Well done. ~buddy~ Quote
Cecilie Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 First of all, I disagree that modular corner houses suck, but I agree that they aren't suited to playing for kids. But we're not kids, were AFOLs! I don't play with my buildings, I display them . Second, I like your doll house . It's both very nice to look, and playable for kids. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished. Quote
lego-maniac Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 Of course corner/modular/house do not sucks ! (ok it sucks just a little) but it's just a way to introduce my moc guys (and girls) don't be afraid ! thanks for your comments. I've changed some things : the top of the front is now white and I've taken my double arches windows off. I'll edit the first post soon ! Quote
greg3 Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 That looks great!! I love all the architectural detail... just needs furnishing now!! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 This is indeed a great-looking brick-built doll house! Your architectural building skills are ceratinly most impressive lego-maniac! I really like the exterior design, coupled with the doll-house opening functionality, this truly is a unique and awesome creation. Great job! Quote
prateek Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Wow! I really want to make a dollhouse like this now! I love the detailing, just as good as the best wood craftsmen! Quote
lego-maniac Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 Hi Guys and Girls ! I've edited the first post and add more pics. Comments are welcome ! Quote
prateek Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Great furniture! I love the SNOT rug, and the kitchen is great! Can't wait to see more! Quote
Cecilie Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Nice kitchen, love that refrigerator, it looks just like my real life size one . The floors are also really nice. It looks a bit weird with that splitting fireplace though, since it will be split when the house is open to play with... Quote
lego-maniac Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 The fire place is perhaps a little bit too big. Fire inside is too big to, I think I'll take it off For the fireplace splited, It's the same for the door ! I understand it look strange but I do not have over solutions... myabe you've got one ? Quote

Well, it's your MOC, so you should do with it as you please, I'm only expressing my personal opinion . But I would perhaps have made a smaller fireplace, and have it be only in the living room, and not split between the two rooms. With the door it's different, as a door is supposed to open, it's not that weird with a split in the door. But keep up the good work, it's a really nice MOC, and I'm looking forward to seeing your second floor Quote
greg3 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Beautiful work!! The furniture is awesome and very dolls house like!! Looking forward to seeing more... Quote
shutinc Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Wow, this is so nice. I especially love the interior and how well done it is with all the details. Great work on the fasade (front) also! :) Quote

The fire place will move to the 2nd floor in the bed room and in one part. The bathroom is coming slowly but it comes ! I'll post new pics in few days, I promise ;) Quote
lego-maniac Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Hi all ! argh, 2 minutes to find my post (in page 4 in 3 Weeks !) so here is the evolution of the doll house : here is the bathroom yesterday: And here is the bathroom today ! on the right, the empty space will welcom the bath hope you'll prefer the new version ! on the right side, there will be a bed, a deck with books and maybe a fireplace. At the top, under the roof, maybe something will come ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Excellent additions to your creation 'Legomaniac', great looking shower and nice vanity unit too ! Only the bedroom left eh ?.....well I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Cancerkitty Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Fantastic build. I think my favorite part is the roof. It's a style I don't believe I've seen before in a MOC. Nicely done! Quote
Cecilie Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I like the upgraded facade, it looks very nice . And that shower is gorgeous. Btw, I wish my bathroom was that big . Quote
lego-maniac Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Btw, I wish my bathroom was that big . It is not ? @lightminder : ... and the ?attic? (area under the roof) with lots of memories and mouses... :) @cancerkitty : thanks a lot for the roof. Quote
lego-maniac Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 here is the bath ! not easy to do it lighter but for a minifig scale I do not find better idea. Of course I'll put the second horn as soon as I find it ! I'm sure I have another one ....somewhere... The minifig is just here for the scale, I would not use this one ! comments for the bath are welcome ;) Quote
prateek Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I really like the bath tub! The shape is great, and I like that a fig can fit in it Quote
