General Magma Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) Hello all. I have been looking for an answer to this question of mine here for quite a long time. The question is: will the movement of arms, legs and other body parts damage the Chrome Darth Vader? I absolutely don't want to damage the chrome, so I need to know if it's safe to use in stop-motion. I noticed chrome lightsabers would lose some of their chrome after some time. If you have had any experience with this, please tell me if it's safe or not to do this. If it's not, I'll try to obtain a second one, although it's hard for me to find a second one that's not so overpriced. Thanks in advance. ~ General Magma Edited November 11, 2010 by General Magma Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I know TLG changed their chroming process, and only the older lightsabers lose their chrome. My chrome Vader's been fine and I do pose him a lot, so I think it'll be okay as long as you aren't too rough. Quote
Marckeyh Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Perhaps a good idea to wear thin gloves when your posing the minifig so there's no direct contact? Quote
General Magma Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Perhaps a good idea to wear thin gloves when your posing the minifig so there's no direct contact? Yes, I'll do that too. Thanks for the advice.. I also meant the chrome under the arms, since they may be rubbed off when the arms move. But it's good to know that, then. Thanks! If people have got any other suggestions, I'd like to hear them. ~ General Magma Quote
The_Customizer Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Maybe you could find someone with a Chrome Darth Vader, and trade for it, like a very used one. SO you don't have to worry about it... And now that I think about it, if you "play" with it too much, the chrome does start to come off. Quote

If you're already willing to find another Chrome Vader, why not go ahead and do the stop-motion first? If the chrome holds up, great, no need to search. But if the chrome wears off, you are already resigned to the fact that searching might have been necessary. Quote
Darth Yogi Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I pose mine quite a bit and its fine, but finger prints are really visible on him so I rub him off with microfiber every once and a while. But the chrome has stayed in good condition. Quote
