ADHO15 Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 Holy megabricks, batman! I don't know if anyone else saw this but that is an incredibly terrible bug/error. Or, Calabar, you somehow managed to rotate the baseplate slightly The backyard baseplate is ever so slightly rotated, apparently in 2 directions also. I know this is nit-picky, but after building my city, that slight height variation comes to be your worst enemy. You will notice that all the pieces are slightly higher on the yard, and that's also why the pin won't fit to connect the two. ADHO15, I sent you a fixed version, just because it bugged me sooo much. But if you want to leave it as a part of the "creative process", okie dokie. Good spot, alienwar, but I already have JCC1004's finished 'Step 13', so I suppose we'll have to keep the error. Hopefully it won't cause too much trouble. Quote
alienwar9 Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 I can fix it there too I already sent it to you. HAHAHAHA! You can't escape me you baseplate you! Oh, sorry. Got a little carried away there. Quote

Got a little carried away there. I wanted to do the backyard! If it bugged, the least you could have done is set it on fire. Quote
Daedalus304 Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Finished my turn! I finished off the second floor (There was still a huge gap in there) and decorated it some, and then finished the wall of the third floor as well. It should be ready for a roof now; which I would have started (With my remaining 30 or so parts) but honestly... I have no experience building roofs for these sort of houses and didn't want to accidentally make something terrible for the roof-builders to have to deal with! Very interested to see how it keeps growing and progressing! Quote
Aanchir Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Just discovered a few color errors with the other community build, so wanted to check this one. Seems to be all set, besides a couple minor errors: There are two cones (part 59900) in color 217 Brown. They do not exist in this color-- color 217 Brown (the equivalent of Bricklink's Dark Flesh) was last used in 2006, while part 59900 is a newer version of the nose cone that first appeared in 2008. The builder probably intended to use color 192 Reddish Brown. Part 4595 Motor 1x2x2/3 is used in color 208 Light Stone Grey. This is the equivalent of Bricklink's Very Light Bluish Gray, a color this piece has never appeared in. The builder probably intended to use color 2 Grey (Old Light Gray) or color 194 Medium Stone Gray (Light Bluish Gray/Light Bley). Part 52107 (Brick 1x2 with four knobs) is used as a radio in color 2 Grey. It never appeared in this color (old light gray). The closest color it appeared in was color 135 Sand Blue, though I doubt the builder intended to use that color (still a possibility, of course). Not strictly an error, but colors are from very inconsistent eras. Many pieces used in the kitchen are color 2 Grey (old light gray), despite almost all other light gray parts in the model being color 294 Medium Stone Gray (light bluish gray). Likewise, the bed and sofa are color 27 Dark Grey (old dark gray), while almost all other dark gray parts are color 199 Dark Stone Grey (dark bluish gray). And the wood in the wood stove is color 25 Earth Orange (old brown) when all other brown parts are color 192 Reddish Brown. None of these are necessarily "errors"-- after all, besides the already-mentioned part 52107 these parts all exist in these colors. But nevertheless these are inconsistencies which may not be deliberate, so I figured they ought to be brought to people's attention. Not sure how you'd go about fixing these errors-- besides the ones in the last paragraph there, they all seem to be just a case of colors being mistaken for one another, and could probably be fixed without the express permission of the people who placed those bricks. But those ones in the last paragraph may be errors in some cases and deliberate choice in others, so the builders of those sections should be asked whether these color choices were intentional or not. In any case, I love how this house is coming along so far! Good luck to all those who have yet to make their contributions! Quote
Daedalus304 Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 (edited) Speaking of colour errors, I did notice one that I felt I should note. On the back of the chimney on the side, there is a light grey 1 x 1 tile that only has the smooth face coloured dark grey. I left it as-is because of the no-edit rule. Edit: had the colours wrong. Whoopsy. Edited November 15, 2010 by Daedalus304 Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Maybe for the next build there should be an established color palette beforehand. Also those of us working on Macs have to manually check color availability so instead of saying we have to use existing pieces, maybe just those certain colors. Or a challenge with just a few specific parts that can be used... Hey there's an idea. Someone can make a LDD file with some random parts and everyone can try to rearrange them. It would be cool to see what everyone could do with the exact same parts. Quote
prateek Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I think we should start finishing off the addition on the side, since that might be untouched by mistake Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 So do I get PMed Daedalus304's file or do I wait 'til he posts it here? Quote
prateek Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 He PMs it to ADHO, who then posts it here. When he does, he PMs you telling you it's your turn Quote

XimenaPaulina Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 KDM- do me a favor? Finish that tree I started. It's the same as the one in the Medieval Market Village set. Sure no prob. Doc, I'll finish that tree and more importantly, start working on that goddam' roof! My day is just starting so I won't be able to start this until later tonight and I'm gonna probably publish the results tomorrow morning. Quote

XimenaPaulina Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Thanks. Why don't you make the leaves black? And hang candles on the tree? Still have some Halloween hangover eh? Come to think of it, can I add elements fit for the season? It's gonna be winter time, would you like some snow guys? (Nah, I'm still gonna stick with the basic task at hand, start addressing all 'unfinished business' and just let the last two or three members for the finishing touches.) Quote

With a white house, I'm not sure snow would have that much of a visual effect. Plus, much of the ground is already tiled as well. I was thinking more on the 'controlled fire' side of things. I never said they had to stay weeds! I told you I was bad at landscaping, and it's not my fault if the bonfire got so hot it killed all the grass. Someone should have put a minifig there to control it! Quote
