alex54 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 So here we go. It’s time for me to make the review of my very first LEGO Castle set. Name : knight’s arsenal Ref : 6016 Year : 1987 Pieces : 36 The booklet is a small sheet of paper that you fold. Here the first “page” that shows the official model and a picture of an alternative model, a thing that we don’t have at all those days… A random “page” of the building instruction : The number of pieces to put together at each step is clearly more important than today. For such a small set, nowadays, we will have a booklet of about 15 pages! Here a picture of all of the pieces of the set. I just miss one piece, the blue plastic cap… Ho well, that’s not that bad for an old set which has lived a lot of things during its toy life! A closer look to the minifig, our proud knight, with some scares of the time… Now, have a look at the arsenal of this set : a shield, a spear, two swords and two hatchets. What a great number of weapons in such a small set! Now a picture of the whole cart, without the knight but with the “non so with” horse : A closer look to the area where you can store the weapons. There is not so many space, but it’s enough for your arsenal, as you can see here : And finally, a picture of the complete set : Finally, this set has nothing really special, but it’s a great small sets. With just few pieces, you can carry your arsenal. The selection of pieces is simple but great enough. The look of the cart is a little bit strange with the use of the flexible hoses. They bring a “modern” touch and also a funny aspect during the building process. In fact, you can play with those flexible parts a lot! Just put one hose in my hand, and I twist it in all directions for hours! I don’t know if such carts have existed during the middle age, but I don’t image them like that. So, in conclusion, this set plays its role entirely : it’s a good little set, with nothing extra, but with nothing bad too! Nothing much to expect for such a small set. Quote
prateek Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Very nice! A horse, a soldier and a crap load of weapons. Awesome. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Nice review 'alex54', that's a lot of weapons....but how can he drive the cart with a spear and shield in hands.....using the force.....a true Jedi KNIGHT ! A cute little playset and the little guy goes off to war ! Keep on reviewing ! Quote
buddy Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Great review, alex54! There certainly are a lot of weapons, for a set of this size as well as a horse and soldier included in the set. This is indeed an excellent little set. ~buddy~ Quote
funkybrick Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 (edited) Good review! I don't like the set, though. I mean it's not bad, but the peak of castle (as well as pirates and many other themes, I LOVE that era) is definitely the 1990s. Most notably the 6086 Black Knight's Castle IMO (which I'm looking forward to buying, heh ). Cheers! Edited November 4, 2010 by funkybrick Quote
Masked Builder Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Great work on the review! These older set for some reason catch my eye. Quote
Lumpy03 Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Many weapons in this set... Very nice ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Ahh, the simplistic beauty of classic sets... Thanks for doing this very nice review alex54! Quote
Big Cam Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Great review, I have this set and it's one of y earliest memories of LEGO. I love how your guys chestplate looks like he's been in a battle or two. Very nice pictures too, the reviewers academy is always looking for new good talent. Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Nice to see you around with the latest review of yours. It sure brings back lots of nice memories. Thanks Alex. Quote
captain crossbricks Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Great review Alex 54! I like these older sets very much. 1 thing i dont like about this set is that blue peice that connects the horse to wagon. It has has a blue brick and looks like the spra painted the horse blue with it. Other then that it looks like a goood set with alot of weapons. Quote
Uvga Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Really wonderful set. thanks for sharing . Uvga Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Ah... the beuty of these great classic sets. Quote
RoryoCox Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Absolutely beautiful set. I don't think any of the new Kingdom's sets come close to the nostalgic feeling one gets when looking at this set. Thanks for the great review, it was nice to see this again. Quote
snefroe Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Very nice! A horse, a soldier and a crap load of weapons. Awesome. yep, the very essence of the set! however, i never really understood why they used those black tubes though... they were considered something from Space, not Castle, but i guess it does the trick... BrickArtist Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Nice review, i like this set, especially those pieces used for the back of the wagon. Quote
