Kikuichimonji Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 I remember there being a poll a long time ago about what your favorite band was. And I also remember lots of people saying the Red Hot Chili Peppers where in their top 3. So I suppose you all now they got a new album, right? ;-) . Being an avid fan, I got it as soon as I could, and I have to say, it's better then I had expected. It reminds me of Californication (still my favorite album ever, and I own quite a lot...) much more then of By the Way (which I didn't like anywhere near as much as Californication). It's actually a double-CD with 14 numbers on each. To generally split them up, CD 1 ("Jupiter") sounds somewhat like By the Way, meaning no really 'powerful' songs. Still, some good songs in here. The only songs I don't really like are Charlie, Slow Cheetah, Strip my Mind and Hey. Not bad for a CD with 14 songs. Only one song which I just plain love here though (Hump de Bump, very reminiscent of their older songs (funk!). CD2 ("Mars") is te one more reminiscent of Californication. It has that good mix between "powerful" songs and slower songs. Unfortunately, the slower songs aren't really good...I'm slightly dissapointed by about half of the second CD...yet I just plain love the other half ;-). 21st Century and Death of a Martian are the best songs on this one. Death of a Martian is the best song on the entire album in my opinion (looks like they were saving the best for last...) All in all, if you're a fan, go get it. If you liked Californication, go get it. If you liked By the Way but didn't like Californication (shame on you!) I suggest you listen to it first. CD1: 7/10 CD2: 9/10 Album: 8/10 If you have it too, let us know how you feel about it :-) Quote
languages Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 I got this album yesterday and it is great! A few of the songs are, but songs such as 'Tell me Baby', ' Snow' and 'Charlie' absolutly rock!!! And when they rock, THEY ROCK HARD! This album is reminiscent of there old stuff and it is a must buy for any fan...plus Im loving the funky bass! PS. I thought By the Way was a great album... And Death of Matian is very awsome! Quote

And Death of Matian is very awsome! I certainly didn't dislike By the Way. But for a follow-up to the best album ever made, it was a pretty big let-down. There are more good songs on By the Way then on Californication, but the overall appeal of Californication is a lot better. The balance between 'slow' and 'powerful' songs was just right on Californication, but completely lost on By the Way. Luckily, it's back now :-D Quote
Scnicker Posted May 14, 2006 Posted May 14, 2006 I got the album today and it's awesome. Eventhough the tunes may get a bit repetitive from time to time, it's extremely enjoyable. Just lay down on your bed and listen to the whole album. It's a great morale booster :). I loved "Charlie","Snow","Dani California" and "Stadium Arcadium". It's hard to get 28 songs in your head all at once :). Quote
JoeMI6 Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 This is one awesome album. There may be a couple of duff songs, but great ones such as 'Dani California', 'Tell Me Baby', 'Snow (Hey Oh)' and 'Make you Feel Better' ensure this album is a hit. It has everything, from head bangers, to immense ballads. If you like the Chili Peppers then buy this without question. If you've never heard of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, do the same anyway. It is a purchase I can guarantee you won't regret. 9/10 JoeMI6's Thought: "Rock your house with Stadium Arcadium." Quote
