snaillad Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Here is a modular MOC 1.5x the size of cafe corner with removable roof and hinged back for access inside. The building is rough 1930's theme but I wanted the 1950's style Ford Thunderbird to complete the "look". It's slightly bigger than I would like, 5 stud wide would have been great but im not used to cars yet :) The pics are Here and more on my flickr Here Below is a sample, there are plenty more in colour but I do like messing about in black and white Comments and questions very welcome Quote
Big Cam Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Very nice, it looks like it is straight out of a Mafia Game. The different depths of the building really add alot to the design. Nice work! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Very nice looking 50's style building 'snaillad' - cool 50's B&W photos to match eh ? Great windows too ! Can't wait to see your next modular creation and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Very cool! Its really captures the 50s feel! Great work! Quote
MightySlickPancake Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 I like this very much. I agree it has a very 50's feel to it. I looks like it could be an acctual building rather than most the modeular houses. Well done . Thanks, CB Quote
wooootles Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Brilliant. If I had a gripe, it would be that gap in the baseplates in Center right, but that's a minor gripe nonetheless. The old style definitely matches the charm of the official modular sets. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Very interesting creation snaillad! It really has the classic 50s feel to it. I love that brickbuilt clock BTW. Great job on this! Quote
Cecilie Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Wow, this is a great building I love the clock face and the use of green window frames And those B&W shots are awesome Quote
snaillad Posted November 2, 2010 Author Posted November 2, 2010 Thanks so far for all the comments, Yeah I ran out of grey 1x1 squares for the roofline. I also wish I had some large tan hinges for the back. I hate taking sets apart and the Grand emporium is my least favorite Modular set but the green windows and mass of tan came in very useful so I have a new respect for this set. I always wanted to do a clock on a building, originally it was just a bigger arch than the two either side, it took a little messing about but I am pleased with it! Wish I had done more pics in black and white now! Cheers Quote
buddy Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Excellent. The building is accurate and the car compliments it well. But like you have mentioned the car is a bit too big for my liking too, if it was 5 wide it would be perfect. ~buddy~ Quote
