super curry max Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) n each box? (sorry about the title, i always forget the character limit) I was at a store tonight that had an unopened box of series 2 collectible minifigures. I popped the box open, whipped out my phone for the barcodes, and tried in vain to search for a Spartan and Vampire. But to my utter dismay neither figure seemed to be in the box. Can this happen? There was a ridiculous amount of witches though. Edited October 30, 2010 by super curry max Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 In theory, you could get anything in each box, but usually there's at least two of every 'fig in each box. Are you sure it was unopened? I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject, maybe someone can elaborate. Quote

I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject, maybe someone can elaborate. My understanding is that there's a specific number of each minifigure in each box, ranging from three to five per figure per box (so that while some of them are indeed rarer than others, alas, none of them is really rare to the extent that individual items from some other lines of collectible, blind-packaged products are like rare cards in CCGs or trading cards, certain collectible vinyl toys and so on). I don't remember the precise number of each figure that's supposed to be in each box, but the count should be around here in the forums somewhere, and I can say there should be at least three of everything. Given your experience, I'd assume that either a) your box was an unusual instance of a mispacked box, or b) someone had actually gotten to it already and it merely appeared to be unopened, or c) there was something wrong with the info your phone gave you. Etzel Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Yes, at least 3 of every minifig in every box is the standard. But people have reported differences in this, including myself. I experienced the same scenario as you with an unopened box with zero spartans. I see it as just bad luck, I suggest we sacrifice some virgins and dance around naked in the moonlight until we have restored the LEGO gods blessing upon us. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Did you open every single package in that unopened box? Or did you just go off of barcodes? I find human error more likely than the box having zero Spartans which happen to be the most popular one. Quote

Come to think of it, most everything there is handled by robots. Quote
super curry max Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 That is odd. The box was most definitely not opened before I opened it. This particular store only got 1 box for the holidays(My aunt happens to work there) and there were 60 packs in the box. I meticulously went through each and every pack only looking for the 2 codes of the vampire and spartan. Neither were in there i tell ya! I'm happy I got a few of the figures from the series though. After looking at them all i chose 5 out at random and got popstar, 2 witches, karate master, and cop so it wasn't a total lose. Always good to have more mini figs to pepper my buildings with. Quote
