Solscud007 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) Ok so I have been watching a lot of Border Wars on National Geographic channel. Then I realized I could replicate one of the common themes of the show. Illegal Transportation of hispanics via Freight Truck. I used two traffic cops and two mexicans from Series 2 lego figures. I also used my newly acquired Toys R Us delivery truck. Now I need a lego dog. Do they make lego dogs with a leash? Im hoping for a police dog. so i can use it as a drug sniffing dog. Big Cam Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 A good recreation of a tv scene. I literally just saw a commercial for that show. Quote
Solscud007 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Posted October 30, 2010 Thanks. After building the TRU truck, I instantly thought "Hey I can put my mexicans in the truck and pretend they are sneaking across the border" haha Quote
The Soup Nazi Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 (edited) I bet they were trying to sell some toys across the border... Edited October 30, 2010 by The Soup Nazi Quote
Solscud007 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Posted October 30, 2010 I bet they were trying to sell some candy dust... Speaking of such. I just had another idea. Drug mules and illegal transportation of drugs. I need to see if there are lego rucksacks that can pose as drugs. So I can have a team of Border Patrol agents on ATVs and Helicopters track drug mules sneaking drugs into the US. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Though I'm not familiar with the Border Wars, I instantly got the message when I saw the photo. Nice use of the new truck and the Mexican and highway patrol cop collectible minifigs. Good job Solscud007! Quote
streifen Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Now I need a lego dog. Do they make lego dogs with a leash? Im hoping for a police dog. so i can use it as a drug sniffing dog. i don't remember seeing a lego dog w/ leash. it's just a dog with a metal chain attached to the stud on it. Quote
prateek Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I don't think illegal Mexican immigrants would be so blatant to wear a sombrero and poncho while hiding in the back of a truck! Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Creative idea, but there are just so many things wrong with this. Creative though. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 This week only at TRU.....get a free illegal Mexican immigrant when you buy anything ! Nice one 'Solscud007' and I'm a fan of NatGeo too ! Keep on truckin' Quote
Solscud007 Posted October 30, 2010 Author Posted October 30, 2010 Creative idea, but there are just so many things wrong with this. Creative though. Yeah I was a little torn. Is it appropriate? I mean is it wrong to use the mexican collectible figure to portray illegal immigrant activities? Should I blame Lego for stereotyping the diverse hispanic culture to a sombrero, pair of maracas, and a poncho? well the theme is discussed on a nationally broadcasted cable show on National Geographic. So I figure it is worhty to replicate in Lego form. I don't think illegal Mexican immigrants would be so blatant to wear a sombrero and poncho while hiding in the back of a truck! Its a disguise to throw off "La Migra" AKA the border patrol. Customs and Immigration Agents wont suspect maraca, poncho, sombrero wearing mexicans. They dont look suspiciuos. haha Quote
Big Cam Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 007, I think as long as you understand that it;s a bad stereotype then it should be allowed. I think we all know what you were trying to portray and the new minifig is the closest thing we have gotten to a Mexican raced minifig. Wrong, but clever Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I don't think illegal Mexican immigrants would be so blatant to wear a sombrero and poncho while hiding in the back of a truck! While they are singing old Mexican Songs! This is pretty creative. I would never think to do anything like this. Quote
SilentMode Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Props to you for creating this! I know for a fact I never would have gotten away with doing something along the same lines. Quote
