Jurgen Krooshoop Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 This is by far not a complete report, but a nice impression of the biggest Lego-event in the World. There were enough interresting things for Technic-fans. Quote
Conchas Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 LW is always a great exhibition for LEGO fans to visit! The video gives a nice overview, specially for the Technic fans here. I just would like to see a more detailed video about the Dryw Flitiarn's LEGO factory, since so far we just have several separate WIP videos from him. It looks marvelous. Quote
DLuders Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 @ Jurgen Krooshoop: Wow, what a show! I liked the Lego band animatronic figures. Did you display any of your MOCs at BrickWorld 2010? Kids must have had a great time seeing the BIG displays there, and "driving" their imaginations wild! From Flickr: Quote
DLuders Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 (edited) Here's another picture of that big Lego Ferrari Racer shown at BrickWorld 2010 (from Flickr): Another angle of the car can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/legoassistenten/3284486770/ . There are more pictures of the body detail on . The giant wheel (from Flickr): A nice Bugatti Type 35B (from Flickr): Does anybody know this gentleman (Dryw Filtairn) who made the Technic Supercar shown on ? Is there more information about it online somewhere? Edited October 24, 2010 by DLuders Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted October 24, 2010 Author Posted October 24, 2010 @ Conchas: Dryw's factory is indeed one very very special creation. Unfortunately, I don't have more/better video's. But it will be impossible to see the complete workings of the factory in a video. Example: the mechanism for picking up and putting down bricks is inside the vertical sliding tower. You can't see it unless taken fully apart. @ DLuders: No I did not show my MOC's on Brickworls. It was actually the first time I visited LegoWorld. But I'm seriously thinking about doing that next year. And I know Dryw from a LOWLUG-meeting and I spoke with him on LegoWorld. You mean his Mercedes: Quote
DLuders Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 @ Jurgen Krooshoop: Yes, that's the one! I found it on Brickshelf and MOCpages. It is "A Mercedes CLK GTR (inspired) car in 1:8 scale. Fully functional supercar with suspension and gearbox (3+R)." Quote
dolittle Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Hi, I went there today, one word, wow :) Since this is my first LEGO convention, I have nothing to compare, but still I had been to toy fairs, and this one doesn't fall below any of them. I really liked the Technic and Mindstorms sections, especially how nice the people in the Mindstorms sections were, they were willing to explain, give you a try provide some details on the items being displayed Wow I really enjoyed it. I wish I could have brought my son, some sections like the Duplo and LEGO creations where really suited for youngsters to start taking blocks and building. I hope the organizers start to note that non-NL guys go there as well, I spotted quite a few families from the UK (based on their cars) and based on the language they spoke :) - and they were baffled by some of the signs as much as I was :D Hope it will improve next year. Thanks, Noam Quote
Wout Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 (edited) Is Dryw Filtairn not already here also a member? Thank you for the nice video Jurgen, I will go tomorrow. Edited October 24, 2010 by Wout Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted October 24, 2010 Author Posted October 24, 2010 Yes, Dryw Filtairn is an EB-member. Quote

JopieK Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 He is not joking I just saw them working on it :) Very impressive that NXT factory!!! I like the minifig details very much. Quote
Jetro Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Pity I missed you Jurgen, but my time was all taken up in the MINDSTORMS section. It was interesting to see the similarities and differences between Martyn's and Chris' factory-makerbot Quote
Jurgen Krooshoop Posted October 27, 2010 Author Posted October 27, 2010 @ Jetro: Yes, it's a real pity, I would really have liked meeting & talking you. I went there on the first day (20 october) and I didn't even know you'd be there. I'm seriously thinking about presenting my own models there next year, so who know, maybe will meet then :-) Quote
Jetro Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 @Jurgen I was there from Saturday till Tuesday, but as I said, MINDSTORMS and the MCP took up most of my time. I certainly hope to be back next year though. The display by LowLUG was impressive - I also missed the chance of talking to Menno Gorter. I love his walkers and the one he brought was absolutely massive. Quote
DLuders Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Even the "big kids" got to play with the Lego car. From Flickr: Quote
DLuders Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 (edited) Here's another view of that full-size Lego Bugatti Type 35B (from Fangio678's Flickr photostream). From the French translation, it is in the "Museum of the Toy in Colmar, Alsace, temporary France Exposition. 33,000 parts and 500 work hours": Edited December 29, 2010 by DLuders Quote
