MOC Castle

[Hemish]

You see all these great castles that people build and it really makes you want to have a crack at building one.

So I put some orders into bricklink and started building

This is where we are at at the moment

Rear wall

Throne room

Did some more work yesterday and today

Every castle needs its own water supply

Throne my son designed and built

We ended up redoing the throne room and put it up

Where we are at the end of today

Put in several more orders at bricklink so we should get to work on it more next week :)

That's a pretty good start Hemish, it really looks like a nice stable build that you could always improve on. Can't wait to see how the build progresses.

Did some work in LDD today for a dining hall for the castle, this needs to be inside the walls, roof for it will be flat and will have to make a catapult to go on top of it

Also have another 4 orders for bricks coming from bricklink that were shipped today so hopefully next week can do more building.

Great WIP, Hemish!

The castle has lots of small details, that make the castle more realistic and accurate. I especially like the water supply and the throne your son designed.

It's nice to see things in progress. It looks like this is going to be a pretty nice castle, and occupied with Spartans no less.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, it has been a lot of fun building this with my eldest son, he is nine and the chap in the pyjamas in the shot

Here we are after building till 2.30am last night/this morning.

Also after designing the dining hall I realised the wall needed to be expanded, its pretty much doubled in length from the first pic

Hope to do more work on it today, the castle wont be ocuppied by Spartans they were just sitting on the table and were handy to use to see how things looked compared to the minifigs

The Castle will have just normal soldiers from the castle line with the odd dwarf in there too :)

Hopefully will get more done today with the kids

@Honeybee thanks but the design or the throne goes soley to my boy Dominik, its his design and he's very proud of it and happy the king will be in it.

@buddy thanks for that, though the water supply area will have to be rebuilt it will be part of the final design, it just needs to find room :)

I dont have any idea of the brick count and it should get huge as I still have the front gate to do. Then some details inside the walls.

Might have to order more bricks too, thats gonna make the wife mad :)

Update time

Took the tower off the back wall and replaced it with 2 smaller ones in each corner, there will be some tweeking still to go in there.

Blacksmiths area, still need to make the anvil for it and maybe redo those weapon racks not real happy with them

Dining Hall, all it needs now are people

We wanted a wizards hut in the castle, this was originally on that back wall but it didnt look right so it was taken down and will go on the ground inside the castle walls

Those "huts" on the left will be mounted like they are on the other side and the centre section will also be built when the parts show up

This is really looking great Hemish, I love how you built the four corner towers, as well as the back wall. Can't wait for this to be finished, it really looks promising. Great work and do keep us updated.

Second set of stairs built and the other towers finished, prison cell redone.

Now all I need to do is do the front wall and gate.

Sigh off to bricklink we go, my wife is so sick of seeing bricklink on the bank statement

It was suggested that I add maybe the MMV to this

So I got a grey baseplate and put on the MMV and some other bits, built another building based on the blacksmith shop in the MMV.

Also have another MMV here to build just waiting on some bricks to show up so can change the colours on the buildings, the blue one will be green and the tan will be red, then the spare tan bricks I will use to change out the light bluish grey upper floor on the building I made.

Have some more grey bits on the way so hopefully can start on the front wall soon

Anyways here are some pics

I also have a couple hundred 1x1 round plates coming in black,light and dark grey so can pave the road areas as well

I really liked the water supply section. And the castle gets real good looking in the pictures on the second page. I also like the dining hall. It reminds me of when I played Dwarf Fortress I would just carve out a massive square room and fill it with tables and chairs.
