Diffuse Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 I just built the 8053 model last week, and I got the distinct impression that it was easier to build (regarding inserting pins into lift arms and connecting lift arms to the model when you need to attach it to more than one pin) than previous models I built. Did someone else noticed something similar or I'm just imagining things? Quote
DarkShadow73 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 The 8258 Crane Truck was HORRIBLE with inserting long pins through the beams, at least the one I built. I realize this makes for a tighter fit, but some of them were a real pain to get through and also I am kind of a details guy and like all the slots to run the same direction and trying to turn the pins in the beams was a real strain on the 'ol fingers. I noticed this to an extent on the 8265 Front Loader also, but not as bad as the 8258, maybe last year's production line was a bit off in the molds of the beams and such or made the pins, especially the long pins too wide. I had a far easier time with this summer's 8043 Excavator, the mobile crane you are referring to and also the 8052 Container Truck. Tight enough to hold everything but not overly so that you felt like you literally needed to force them in. Sariel Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I had a very similar experience building the 8272 Snowmobile. It seemed to be generally made of a higher quality material. Quote
sverre Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I agree with OP. My crane was also a very smooth build. Quote
fmix Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 (edited) Not only the quality of the materials, just the amount of remaining mold lubricant can cause deference. I have experienced that after washing my bricks, it becomes harder to connect. I think it is not easy to guess the quality of batch. Edited October 23, 2010 by fmix Quote
