I was shopping at a local Walmart when I saw they had 3 boxes of NXT 2.0 on clearance sale. Regular: $279.96 sale $279.00

Gee whiz a 97 cents saving on a Lego set! How nice they marked it down by a whopping 0.3%!

I think someone isn't happy these set aren't selling and is hoping a clearance sale sign would make customer a little more interested.

This is quite strange but does it really need it's own topic?

Yes we do because I'd like to make fun of Walmart.

i have been to two Walmarts that had the $100 Space Police space ship for the low low clearance price of $100! Really, it wasn't on sale at all!

This is how Walmart works, they NEVER lower the price of sets in some stores, what clearance means to them is that they are no longer in the ordering system and once those few sets are sold out it's gone for good, they will never go on sale. They might have them in the back room and will stick them back out if the shelves are bare, but they will never lower the price at some stores.

I saw a $20 Spongebob set for $20 clearance section for over two years. I just figured they will wait until a LEGO fan comes in and buys it at the full price clearance price because you can't find it anywhere else.

In my nearby Walmart, they have 7949 Kingdoms Prison Carriage Rescue clearance price for '$10.97' - red tag.

however, its MSRP is $9.99 , and walmart.com has it $9.99 too (free shipping to store)

If I'm correct, Walmart owns Asda here in the UK. I once saw series 1 minifigs for £7 each! Thats about $9 or $10

I always see sets on sale at the Wal Mart here, usually between 10-20% off. Not bad.

Under normal circumstances I would find this to be a negative topic without much point and just close it. :hmpf_bad:

BUT... having recently experienced this myself, it stays! (for now)

So yeah, last time I was in Walmart, they had the big airport and a few TS3 sets on clearance for full price. Big ugly red stickers on otherwise pristine boxes indicating a savings of exactly $0.00. Nice job, Walmart. Nothing makes me spend my money faster than no discount and ugly stickers marking up the boxes. :hmpf:

I realize this is old but I still need to point and laugh at Walmart. Today I went to that one store that had the NXT 2.0 set on "sale", and they still have them on "sale" for low, low price of $279.00

6 months of dust included for free!!!
