OK, generally I don't have time for MOCs (have the ideas and the enthusiasm, but not the time), but here's a small project that only reached conclusion this morning.

First, let's take 6966: MINI Anakin's Jedi Startfighter from ROTS.

Now, I got an idea from somewhere and followed it through. Could have been here, couldn't been somewhere else. Replace the yellow parts with red to make Obi Wan's Starfighter.

Now, in the New Essential Chronology, there is a picture of the craft Darth Vader uses after ROTS for a while. Before his TIE Advanced is created. Essentially, its a Kuat Eta-2 as above, but black.

In fact, there a bit more to the latter one than first looks. To make the red one, I simply directly replaced all the yellow with red. To make the black one, though, I had to do a little experiemntation. First (and I'm not sure how clear this is), the white 1x1 rounded plate has become brown. This is because Imperial Astromechs are generally black or bronze rather than red or blue. Second, the grey weaposn just didn't look right so they've also become black. Otherwise, its as-is.

Now, what I want to do is create a system-scale version. IE take Anakin's yellow Eta-2 and make it black and even get another DV minifig from Bricklink. Two problems:

1. The cockpit has an imprinted Bendu symbol on it. Its not availble in any set other than Jedi Starfighter/Vulture Droid and USB. I asked on another thread about the feasibility of removal of this using, say, nail varnish.

2. The Octagonal wings are also only available in the above sets.

I'll check Peeron periodically to see if either of those two pieces get used in any other set.

It's a pretty good idea, and I think you exacuted it well from what I can see, but your pictures are very large and blurry. I'd suggest seeing if your camera has an macro mode. If so, that should help a lot.

As for erasing the printing on the JSF cockpit pieces, there's a thing called Brasso, made for polishing brass, that supposedly works very well, and will take off the printing while keeping the piece looking new.

That looks good. It's a nice little idea, as it doesn't take much to do, but looks effective. It's good to see that you still put the effort in even if you don't like making MOCs in particular.

I DO like making MOCs, just lack the time. Would love to make more. Like that dojo I talked about on another thread.
