Still Raindrop Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) When the Series 2 Minifigure vignette contest was going on, I said that, if I placed, I would make my entry into a full modular-sized MOC. I also said that, if I didn't place, I would have the restaurant be visited by the health inspector. So, as promised, here it is. Part One The health inspector. As he walks into Dante's Mexican Restaurant, he frowns and takes out his pen and notepad. This should be an interesting day. He sits down and orders a meal. He eats everything, down to the last bite. "A truly enjoyable meal," he thinks to himself, "and the entertainment was good. Let's hope everything's clean and sanitary in the back." Unfortunately, things are not so good in the kitchen. The inspector instructs Chef Dante Inferno to move the stove. Underneath is a huge spider, as well as an indication that the surrounding floors aren't nearly as clean as they should be--the floor underneath the stove is fine, but the floor all around is coated in grime! The health inspector frowns and begins writing in his notepad. This alone isn't enough to shut down a restaurant... let's hope that he finds the dish pit in better order! To be continued.... Well, I was going to put a rat in there, but I only had one (from the Scary Laboratory set), and its tail got bent pretty badly, so it's not really usable. Quote

As much as I wanted to place in the contest, I must say that I'm a little relieved that I didn't-- I realized after I made my promise that I probably couldn't make it into a modular sized MOC for quite some time, due to my lack of both spare tan bricks and money with which to purchase more. Who knows, though--perhaps some day, when I make more money and don't have to get through school, Dante's Mexican Restaurant will re-open, in full modular glory. Quote

I simply love the small details that you put in there - the alternating trans-red and -green cheese slopes for the wall design, the helmet floodlight pen, and the perfect head for the grumpy health inspector - all very effectively used to get the desired outcome.
