Lord Arjay Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 I enjoy watching your MOCs progress, this one's looking good so far. Can't wait to see more! Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Ah, this is Penfolds..... Oh, here's a little story and yes it's in thousands of dollars...... A 12 litre bottle (a balthazar) of 1997 Penfolds Grange and a 6 litre bottle (an imperial) of 1998 Penfolds Grange both attracted record prices of over AUD$50,000 each - double the auctioneer’s estimates and both bottles representing the highest prices ever achieved for single bottles of Australian wine. The imperial of 1998 Penfolds Grange set a record price of AUD$54,480 and the balthazar of 1997 Penfolds Grange a record price of AUD$53,346. These remarkable wine prices were highlights of Langton’s Shiraz Australia II online wine auction held this evening (Monday January 20, 2003). Now you wouldn't want to drop one of those bottles eh ? Thats one expensive bottle off wine I wonder how long it look them to drink it Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Question.....Do the tan log bricks look okay where they are ? I think they look fine. Looking forward to the finished thing! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 Thats one expensive bottle off wine I wonder how long it look them to drink it If you are Bill Gates, as quickly as possible to down the next ! Penfolds is one of the oldest wine producers in the world and Grange is produced only aw, say 10 km's from my home, but I can only dream of owning any.....I would have a better chance of scoring a UCS MF ! Keep your eyes out for sure today, them walls are going up ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) Update time...... Close up of the lounge area upstairs.... More tomorrow everyone....keep the comments comming and you know the rest by now ! Edited October 12, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
jonwil Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 You need a big-screen TV hanging in the bar for the punters to watch the sport on. Maybe a pool table in the space upstairs... You also need some beer signage (bar mat maybe?) matching whatever brand of beer you like (or that fits with the location of your town) Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Wow great love the bar and sofa BTW as Jhonwill said you need a big TV hanging frorm the wall Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Thanks 'Darth Jar Jar' and 'jonwil' for your comments and suggestions, well I'm now thinking a dinning room in that blank space. Now a tv down stairs it was one my first ideas but working it out to be the right size....I'll still do it though. In the lounge and soon to be dinning room......paintings hanging and yes, beer ad's.....a pub is not complete without them ! Be on the look out tomorrow for more fresh photos......keep on drinking (responsibily) ! Quote
Still Raindrop Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I really like the way this one is coming along. Although I haven't been able to keep track of all the New Mannum buildings (you have been rather prolific!), I really like the ones that I've seen. Your style has grown more unique and noticeable, and I like the level of detail you put in. I'm really enjoying being able to see this one come together step by step. I think the tan with just a little white trim keeps it looking classy, and makes it realistic while still allowing you to add tons of detail. Your interior is so far great, as well--you're doing a great job at getting lots of detail in a cramped space (I know how difficult a task this can be, as I used to build on the Classic Town scale, as well, and only switched to modular rather recently). "I'm a conformist!" (if I may borrow your saying), and keep on showing us the results! I'm a huge fan Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Thank you 'Mariko' and 'CallMePie' for those very kind words , I'll be starting on the dinning room today and maybe even the roof but I'll see how the pans out ! Keep on.....well, watching, building, you know that word ? Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I really like the color. It looks great! Keep on building, can't wait to see the final product! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Thanks 'Mrlegoninja' for your kind comments, I'm actually right now adding a tv screen down stairs, plus a spirit bottle rack too. Also I have now added a door way between the lounge and dinning areas.....even the tv has a pair of rabbit ear aerial rods ! Pictures later on today, keep on ....you know ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Aw, to heck with it.....here are some fresh photos..... Now I still have to fill the spirit rack....oh yeah should I put a door in that frame between the lounge and dinning areas ? Comments etc.,.....you know the score ! Quote
prateek Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) Now I still have to fill the spirit rack....oh yeah should I put a door in that frame between the lounge and dinning areas ? Comments etc.,.....you know the score ! You should put a door, but just a clear one IMO. Edited October 12, 2010 by prateek Quote
Fires-storm Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Yeah, a clear door in that space would look nice, also possibly a bed in the blanked room. Great work on this, I love it so far!!! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Cool, thanks 'prateek' and 'Fires-Storm'....I will put a clear door in that frame, now where did I put that spare clear one ! Keep a look out for more later......etc., etc., etc.,. Quote
prateek Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Cool, thanks 'prateek' and 'Fires-Storm'....I will put a clear door in that frame, now where did I put that spare clear one ! Keep a look out for more later......etc., etc., etc.,. How about your motorcycle dealership? Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 How about your motorcycle dealership? By the weekend, I should have the floor finished in the power/marine showroom and then final stickering of posters all over the place. But more on that later in the right area....well back to it - more later ! Bricking on keep ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I'm liking it so far (what's not to like in LT's creations anyway?) Slowly but surely, this hotel is coming to life and the tan color scheme looks more and more beatiful by the build. Just curious, will that be the final lot area (10 x 22) and you'll just build it vertically or do you have plans expanding the base area? Quote
BrickWild Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Nifty! Could you put up some pics of the real hotel for reference? Quote
Skafte Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 oh yeah should I put a door in that frame between the lounge and dinning areas ? Comments etc.,.....you know the score ! I don't think a door is neccessary between the lounge and dining area, just fit one of these in tan there instead, it would look more restaurant-y. Keep hoteling! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Thanks 'Skafte', 'BrickWild' and 'KielDaMan' for your kind comments. Now this is an inspired MOC, it's not based on any real pub as far as I know. But hopefully I have or can still produce in brick the feel of a Aussie country pub, a type built around the 1930's with some art deco involved. Keep on etc., blah, blah, blah ! Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Looking better and better, The second floor really add's character to the building Keep working Lightningtiger. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 16, 2010 Author Posted October 16, 2010 Thanks for the kind comments 'The Red Brick' - the only thing I have done in the last two days has been the spirit rack.....I still must find that clear door to go in that frame. I still must decide on the dinning table(s) design yet.....any suggestions ? Keep on commenting ! Quote
