Brickdoctor Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) Has anyone seen this? LEGO Windows 7 Phone I'm impressed. The author knows what Blacktron is. On the other hand, Microsoft designed about as poorly as they do their OSs. But maybe that's 'cause I own a Mac. Edited October 8, 2010 by Brickdoctor Quote
RileyC Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Yeah I saw this too. I don't even get how that resembles the real phone at all. They could've at least put some effort into it. The colours arent even right and is there supposed to be a trans black brick in the top left hand corner? Quote
Corvus Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I'm guessing it was just slapped together when somebody realized that it was pretty close to the actual size of the phone. Certainly not a fantastic MOC. And hey! No Windows-bashing, One-Button Wonder. Quote

I wonder if Microsoft even got TLG's permission to distribute these. Quote
Zzz Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I wonder if Microsoft even got TLG's permission to distribute these. Guess they don't need it if they just send out a few to business partners. The idea might be ok, but why didn't they ask someone who has at least some experience in designing? All these overpaid marketing managers sitting together in their handmade shoes and german design suits, talking about viral marketing campaigns and their unique B2B POS position - they send this piece of megabloks over to some CEOs? Wow. At least they didn't lose their humour, they need it when they try to keep up with Apple. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 These were given out to Microsoft executives as an invite to an internal kickoff meeting for the windows phone 7. The blue tiles represent the default blue icons for the different applications that show up on the home screen of all windows phone 7's. (That sounds goofy) Microsoft had no reason to request approval from TLG because this would be the same as me making invitations to my birthday party out of LEGO and distributing them, without the express goal of profit or any use of TLG 's name without their permission, Microsoft did nothing wrong. Someone on the WP7 team simply likes LEGO's. I think its a fun way to get invited to a meeting. Quote
Masked Builder Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 While interesting it doesn't look like the real thing. Quote

If they'd gotten an AFOL to do this, they could at least have competed with these: Quote
vexorian Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) Ew, it looks like a plate with some blue squares on top. No wonder why these guys can only compete by suing phone companies that do not use dows mobile thing. Edited October 8, 2010 by vexorian Quote

Mrlegoninja Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Apple is Microsoft what LEGO is to Megabloks. Microsoft>Apple, LEGO>>>>>>Mega Bloks. Anyway, this looks terrible! How could you be impressed? Quote

timtosino Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 It is a plate with some blue squares on top. Maybe the PAB wall at the LEGO store in Seattle was tapped out after BrickCon, so this is the result :P Quote
