Oky Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Hello there. As the subtitle says, this was going to be my Category B entry for the Minifigures Series 2 contest, but I misinterpreted the deadline and was too late. Ah, Paris! The city of love and the performing arts! However, today there isn't much love in the air. Bobo the Clown used to be one of the top entertainers in Paris. People loved to watch his shenanigans and frequently hired him to perform at parties. But one day, a new performer appeared on the scene, a fresh, young mime who, with his vast arsenal of imaginary props and great ability to interact with them, won over the heart of the crowd in no-time. Bobo's business was practically ruined over night, and the sudden popularity surge didn't do him well. He became more and more depressed with every day, until he finally snapped. The mime had to go. And so, Bobo set up a trap during one of the mime's performances. The mime was doing one of his routine acts where he pretended to be pulling a rope with a heavy object attached to it. What the mime didn't know was that Bobo, having a special sense of irony, was about to drop a real heavy object on top him from a balcony above, a piano to be exact. The amused spectators were in for a grim surprise... Here is the unsuspecting mime, and the people of Paris watching his performance in front of "Le Cafe" with delight. And here is Bobo, about to cut the rope holding the piano above the mime's head. Some more views of the vig: Some shots without the figs and the piano: The moral of the story: Stay away from clowns with knives! You can find hi-res versions of the pics in this brickshelf folder. Let me know what you think! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 So AWESOME yet so funny at the same time 'Oky Wan' - pity it was too late - you would have won (I think)! Is that clown related to The Joker ? Fantastic piano (pity it's going to fall) and cafe.....hope they have a garden hose to clean up afterwards ? I'm a conformist! 'Oky Wan' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 You did it again Oky! You really captured the Paris street atmosphere perfectly. The build of the cafe and the piano are just amazingly accurate. Too bad you weren't able to enter this in the contest, this would have been one of the favorites and you would've certainly gotten my vote. Quote
bricked one Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Awesome MOC, "Oky Wan Kenobi" Maybe the mime can make a protective box around himself. Quote
-JD- Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Super MOC Oky! Well done! The details and techniques are top-quality here! I love the Piano and especially the technique for the roof tiles. Keep it up! Oh, btw, I'm sorry you missed the deadline. Quote
Flare Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Haha! Excellent work! This would've won if you had made it in time Nice work, as usual! Quote
Leo-J Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Oooohh, that evil Bobo What a well-made MOC. Love the street action and the impending doom! Quote
Artanis I Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Excellent vig, the middle 2 levels look the best, including the piano. I like the keys. Good to see the minifig bases in use too, I think they're a really good part. But I think the flag should have blue next to the pole and red on the outside edge (I know that makes it back to front, but flags are double-sided and mirrored on the reverse). Quote
Masked Builder Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 That's great! Your work on the piano looks pretty good. Quote
Zorbas Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Very beautiful creation Oky! Your attention to detail is great and it would have been a very successful entry. I just love the title! Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 To bad you didn't get it entered. You would of gotten my vote. Quote
SilentMode Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Very ingenious use of tile pieces for piano keys. The vignette looks cool too - unfortunaely I didn't vote this time around. Quote
Almirante Don Rodrigo Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Great! Excellent ideas for the building and the piano! Quote
Big Cam Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I absolutelt love it. Too bad you didn't get it in on time. I especially am fond of the piano. Now just throw jammie under there and WHACK. Quote
Solitary Dark Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 That's a really funny entry Oky - A shame you didnt get it in on time - you would have done well. The cheese slopes for roof tiles are ingenious - I can't recall seeing that before. Quote
MetroiD Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Top notch work. Many details without having it looked crammed - you've done perfectly. So what if you haven't managed to enter it into the competition, it's still an absolutely brilliant vignette! Quote
Darth Jar Jar Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Wow great the piano is such a clever build and the cheese slopes are great the weird thing is I was fiddling around with them a week or so for a new modular building that I am making Quote
Izzy Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 Oh that is wonderful Oky. I just love that piano. Any chance of some close up shots of it? Or even a step by step, if you care to share your secrets. Quote
