I did the soaking in olive oil trick with the old LA as I mentioned above and I just got my 8043 completed and it works flawlessly, except for a slight wiggle in the bucket tilt function, but I have isolated that not to the LA, but it I can visibly see that one of the axles is jerking a bit as it spins, not sure which one, but I am thinking one of the longer axles might have a slight deformity in it, I had this problem in my 8294 when I got it assembled and motorized it. I fixed it by one by one replacing the axles till I found the one that was causing the jerkiness.

However, that aside the boom raises flawlessly, just a very slight motor strain, no more so than the function that moves the excavator forwards and backwards, the motor that drives that feature strains that particular motor a lot more than the boom raising motor. I didn't experience problems like what was described in many of the assembled non-greased LA's and the major problems even raising the boom or having to 'help' it by hand, so I do think the friction was greatly reduced by soaking the old LA's in the olive oil and thanks for the tip. It remains to be seen if the boom raise eventually slows down, but I am going to raise and lower it a lot over the next few days just to see if it continues to work well, it really does raise quite quickly.

So, how do the LA's perform after a few days of use ?

I plan to soak my old LA's in olive oil for my 8265, and I would like to know if you still recommend this tip.

I saw a spray can style lube that (according to the label) was able to find it's way into narrow openings and then turn into a thicker grease. This sounds like something useful here, if it's nice to the plastic. I'll try to spot the can again and take better note on brand.

Has anyone done a more precise measurement? (comparing the lift, while making sure to use the same torque in both measurements?).

Use kitchen scale for measurement. (one with 4-5 KG scale) That is good measure to check max press of LA's, or until clutch snapped.

Found the name: Kernite K-Nate Aerosol.

Here's a Tech-PDF: http://www.kernite.com/kernite/vContent/3/documents/general/K_Nate_Aerosol_Tech_Sheet.pdf

Will try to get hold of a can and try it out.

Bulga - still raising the boom flawlessly, though I think I am wearing the batteries out as all the motors are getting slow, even the forwards/backwards and rotating motor functions, so I know its not the LA's causing problems as those functions are gear-operated only, no LA's in play there. Only 'small' problem is a bit of olive oil is seeping, but I totally immersed them in the oil overnight too and you could tell from the 'heaviness' of the LA's the next day when I was wiping them down that they were full of oil, kind of almost like a hydraulic filled cylinder now in a sense.

Looked for that here in a large hardware store and it appears to be not a USA sold item, possibly a European or Swedish brand since I see you are from Sweden. The olive oil is messy, but it is working well, I installed some olive-oiled LA's on my 8258 Crane Truck alternate model (the lift truck) and it works a LOT better now, so am assuming that was the problem with that model as well.

Oh, forgot to reply on the 8265. I would bet the oil would work well on those too and those LA's on the Loader are a lot more accessible and easier to pull off than some of the other models, like say the 8295 Telehandler one, it struggles too, but trying to get that one off to soak it looks to be an impossible task without really taking the boom off and rebuilding the base.

I now have a can of the K Nate from Kernite. The description in Swedish, Danish and Norweigan (possible also in Finnish) say's it can damage certain plastics and paints. The English description does not say that. Strange.

I'll try on some old damaged bricks and see if there's any visible damage.

Only the Norweigan text says what's in the bottle:

Propane 10-25%

Butane 25-50%

Petroleum, lightly hydrogen treated 10-25%

All languages say Calcium Sulphonate Grease.
