lakuda Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) Hi I am new here and i using LDD with Universe patch. When i build something all bricks in manual from left side are RED and building instructions normal (like they have to be). How to fix this - Red bricks have to be in right color. English is my second language. Thank you for help in advance. Edited October 1, 2010 by lakuda Quote
DLuders Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Directly under the "Lego Universe" words at the top-left corner of your Lego Digital Designer screen, there is a symbol with three tiny bricks in it (blue, yellow, and red). Click on that symbol, and you will see various color choices. When you click a choice like YELLOW, the parts category will all turn yellow. Recommend looking at the LDD Index Thread for more user tips. Quote
Calabar Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) Hi and welcome! You can introduce yourself here! As DLuders told you, you can easily change colours for all bricks choosing that from the colour palette. Universe mode is even powerful than reality: you can choose a colour for a brick when a brick with that colour has never been realized. Edited October 1, 2010 by Calabar Quote
lakuda Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 Hi and welcome! You can introduce yourself here! Thank yo for your answer but choosing color of the bricks is not the problem, problem is in the manual. Check left side of this manual all bricks are red and on the opposite side they are in the right color. By the way i am from Croatia and i like to do custom mini figures and sets. Quote
DLuders Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) In the Building Instructions manual, I would not pay much attention to the red color of the bricks. Red is chosen as the default color because it shows good contrast between the studs and the shadows of the brick. Other colors don't show contrast very well. If you select a red brick from the parts pallette that should be another color, you can click on the red 1x1 brick icon at the bottom edge of the LDD program screen. Once you click it, you'll see a group of primary colors. If you click on the blue color (for example), you will get a group of bricks that have various shades of blue-->gray. After you highlight the part that you want to change color, click on the shade of blue that you want and the red piece will change to a bluish-gray piece. Do the same thing with the other part. So, you can change the color of a part from red to bluish-gray BEFORE you pick it off of the Parts Pallette, or AFTER it has been placed onto the center baseplate work area. There is a Lego Digital Designer User Manual that comes with the software. In the menu along the top edge of the LDD screen, click on "Help" and again on the next "Help", and you will see the LDD User Manual. The path to the manual is (typically) C:\Program Files\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\Help\en-manual\en-manual.html . Edited October 2, 2010 by DLuders Quote
Calabar Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Thank yo for your answer but choosing color of the bricks is not the problem, problem is in the manual. That problem appears in HTML instructions and in universe mode only: apparently LDD picks bricks from the palette, and in universe mode the palette is red by default. You can partially solve the problem building instructions in another mode than universe one, but unfortunately only bricks available in that mode would appear in the correct colour, while other bricks are printed in red. Here is an example in "Design by Me" mode. Quote
Superkalle Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Interesting. I never thought of this before. I guess the LDD developers didn't bother to add colors to instructions since LU Mode is for internal use only. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Interesting. I never thought of this before. I guess the LDD developers didn't bother to add colors to instructions since LU Mode is for internal use only. A workaround that seems to work is to: select all copy (menu not copy brick) start a new project using normal and not universe mode paste. It works on getting entire set over including colors and obsolete bricks. From there, try making a manual. Quote
Calabar Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 It seems this method suffers of the same problem than mine: I tried it but there is no way to have the backpack in tan colour. Quote
