Pate-keetongu Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I bought Mmeltdowns (or Meltdown, if you prefer) few days ago. I got milky-white misprint zamor sphere, which is really neat. I like the set overall, it has a great radioactive cyclop monster feel on it. And the lime tentacle will be useful. I will buy Evil Space Baron Doktor Viktor Von Nebula soon and mod him more accurate with a monocle, a mustache and a top hat. Viktor also has some really cool parts. Quote

Brickthing Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 Hero Factory probably wasn't mentioned by Klaus-Dieter because he isn't interested in action figures. TLC is definitely working on 2011 Hero Factory sets, although I'm not sure whether they will certainly be released or if their future still hinges on the success of this first wave. Quote

Aethersprite Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 HF just hit stores in Singapore a week ago, and I was at my local TRU when I heard a conversation between this Caucasian boy (living here, I presume) and his (Filipino) maid. Maid: "Look! New Bionicle toys! Want?" Boy: "Those aren't Bionicle." Maid: "They look like Bionicle to me." Boy: "They're not! They just look the same. Look!" *points at box* *ponders for a moment* Boy: "Let's go look at other Lego." I almost burst out laughing. Quote

Aethersprite Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Does anyone have The Drop Ship? I'd love to see some new pictures of it... A friend of mine has one, but it doesn't really appeal to me, especially compared to the '08 vehicles. I think the Furno Bike is a better (and cheaper) buy. Quote

Although it's a cheaper buy, it's really just a few technic bars connected with blue pens, with some wheels and armor. Quote

Wow, I heard nearly the exact same conversation at a TRU in Canada, except instead of "Hero Factory" being the mistaken theme it was some stupid M*ga Bl*ks series. To me, that shows how ridiculous and uncreative of a mistake LEGO has made. Hero Factory falls under the standard of M*ga Bl*ks : a knockoff. WARNING: IMO RANT AHEAD! BIONICLE is a well known brand, supported by a well known story, toys and multimedia. TLG can't just "replace it" like other Lego themes, especially after bringing the story out to the public via The Legend Reborn. Young fans will want to know how it ends! If Hero Factory does die, it will be due to TLG horrible mistake: misjudging the worth of the BIONICLE franchise. WARNING: RANT OVER Though Hero factory toys are simply fantastic in design, and the story may have some potential. The only thing impeding it is BIONICLE's popularity. PS: Don't get the impression I hate HF, OK? 'Cause I don't! Quote

Though Hero factory toys are simply fantastic in design, and the story may have some potential. The only thing impeding it is BIONICLE's popularity. When I was in a store today, people recognized them as new Bionicle sets. I would think that Bionicle's popularity would help Hero Factory rather than impede it, because people assume a successor to something will be of an equal or better standard. Speaking of the store I went to, I purchased Stormer and Meltdown, and I'm very impressed with them both. It's worrying that the recoloured yellow Metru limbs and ankle guards on Meltdown have different quality plastic, but the lime tentacle and Mahri tubes are fantastic. Stormer looks great, and the detail and quality of each new piece makes it well worth the low piece count. The piece designers did a great job on even the weapon arm (despite it being hollow), and the sleek curves and pistons (with no hint of organic designs) of the HF torso piece serves as a good indication of the direction HF is taking to differ from Bionicle. Although it's a cheaper buy, it's really just a few technic bars connected with blue pens, with some wheels and armor. True, but the Furno Bike pulls off the overall aesthetic really well. Plus, it has new parts in orange and the <333 Bohrok faceplate. The Dropship doesn't offer much in terms of fantastic recolours. Its only unique piece is the silver Hero core. Quote

Mesonak Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I've got Meltdown, Xplode, and Rotor. I like Hero Factory much more than Bionicle. I agree wholeheartedly; I got those exact sets several days ago along with Stringer and Bulk and Von Nebula. Very worth it, and I like it more than most BIONICLE sets of recent memory. As well. :D -Mesonak Quote
Refia Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 (edited) I bought Furno, Meltdown and Von Nebula this week and I do not regret my purchase. All are great sets, though IMHO Von Nebula suffers from the tiny feet syndrome. His lack of elbows bothers me not, he looks fantastic. Meltdown has a great design, but his arms are a pain to pose, and stickers always make me nervous. XD Furno is simple, and the build laughable, but the completed set looks very fine, very pleasing to the eye. In fact that goes for all of them. Lightyears ahead of the Bionicle STARS. *sigh* The stars wouldn't have been so bad if they had had the new Hero Factory non-90-degrees-angle limbs. =/ Edited August 15, 2010 by Refia Quote
Aethersprite Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Anyone with Thunder yet? Does the way the Inika shoulderpad is placed on his right arm affect his articulation in any way? Quote
Mesonak Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Anyone with Thunder yet? Does the way the Inika shoulderpad is placed on his right arm affect his articulation in any way? Not really; The HF torso's design lets it move freely. Doesn't interfere whatsoever. -Mesonak Quote
