Big Cam Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I was in a tv commercial for BNSF which is a train company here in the US. My dad is an engineer so they needed some fee labor, and me being in the fourth grade, well I was a perfect candidate. It was all about safety, I Crawler under the train with my bike using that as a shortcut, then the train starts up so I have to get out quick and I leave my bike to get crushed, then there was a scene of me carrying the crumpled bike up some stairs to a bridge. Pretty lame overall but as a fourth grader it was cool to be so close to the big locomotives, and to see a bike get run over by a train. Quote
Ratshot Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 TV many times, but only for sporting events. I've also been in documentaries for Paul Tracy and Steve Nash. CBC hockey documentary? Quote
prateek Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 CBC hockey documentary? What? Nothing for CBC. Paul Tracy made one for Make a Wish and Steve Nash made one about cancer and stuff. Quote
dr_spock Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I was interviewed on TV for a news story. It was weird hearing myself talk on TV. Quote
MetroiD Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 Yes, but only as one of the ~1M crowd gathered at Tiergarten, Berlin for the Live 8 gig. The camera did a fly-be over moi during the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations", if I recall correctly, and I was definitely vibrating pretty well at that time, so I guess it was just the right time Dunno if I've been caught on camera on one of the football matches I've attended, but meh. A friend of mine went to Stamford Bridge to see her first live Chelsea game ever and got a ticket for the lower tier of the Shed End. She ended up live on TV for about half a minute, jumping like crazy after Anelka had scored the first goal of the game literally one metre away from her. If that ain't luck! Quote
Emperor Claudius Rome Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 When I was in grade 1, the local news came to my school. The guy with the camera asked me "Do you have anything you want to say?" And I said "I don't like cheesestrings!" because my mom had given me one in my lunch, and I didn't like it. Quote

Mrlegoninja Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 When I was in 5th grade, a TV station came over to interview students that were in the advanced-challenging class. I was one of them. Quote
mario72 Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Several times about my biggest hobby, Brickfilms Part-1 Part-2 Another one and some times more, but acutally not online. Quote

Zanki Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I was on CITV as a kid. I went to see the Power Rangers in Tesco car park and ended up on TV. It was so much fun, got my picture taken with a guy in a Ranger costume and ended up on TV with a group of other kids. I think I also ended up on the BBC news in the background after some idiot had seriously hurt himself in the shoping center in Coventry. I was also in a movie a few years ago. I ended up playing some bad chinese guys henchman. We had to run into a room, pretend to understand chinese, search for the good guys and get shot. We also ended up as part of the stunt team as well. It was so much fun, but I have no idea what happened to that movie, it was shown at a few film festivals but after that we heard nothing. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 I've never been on TV, but I have been in a background shot on our local news for 2 seconds Quote
Ogre Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) Anyways, has this kind of things ever happened to you? Have you ever had your chance to be seen on TV? Share your "15 minutes of fame" stories here. I thought it would be interesting to share one's funny experiences being on TV. I've been on a local tv show episode when I was younger...it was called "That's Life" and it was about single DADS raising their kids (which was rather rare at the time). I've also been on various news segments for things ranging from antique fire truck musters to helping out at firefighters' Halloween charity events (me in costume). In addition, I was on screen for a short while for the 'made for tv' adaptation of "The Third Wave". On the local news again, for being the firt 'young person' to reach the top in a "charity challenge climb" up the stairs of the CN Tower. Back in junior high school, my school (including moi) were all 'on air' as the news helicopter flew above us as we made a giant "peace dove" on the football field. Oh, I was also in the studio audience for a taping of "King of Kensington" waaaaaaaay back when and I think that shot made it on air after the show ended. I've also had several letters read on air on various tv shows and made the "Letter of the Week" in one of our local papers. Not 'tv' either but, my arm also appears in Pantera's "Cowboys From Hell" home video. LOL In the segment showing the guest appearance of Rob Halford (lead singer Judas Priest) at Pantera's show at Rock 'n' Roll Heaven, you can see two arms shoot up in front of the camera...bigger arm is me, smaller arm is my buddy. =) That's about all I can think of right now. Hmph. A lot more than I thought there was. LOL Edited November 7, 2010 by Ogre Quote
Milan Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 17 or so years ago I was on a National TV station, in a kids show, called ZVRK. I was presenting my LEGO collection and of course, my brand new, mighty Technic set 8868- Claw rig. Back then LEGO was not very spread in my country, and probably I was the first person here to be lucky to have one of the best Technic sets ever made. I was lucky I had my uncle in Germany, who knew about my LEGO passion, and my Father, investing lots of hard earned money for me. Back than it was very unstable period here...sadly, war was about to begin. The film crew of 3 guys came to my apartment, and we were start preparing in my room, my parent were in the kitchen talking with the TV guy, who did not enter my room. Reflectors, giant camera, microphone, cables...it was scary. When all the stage was set, the guy with the microphone, without any intro, started interviewing my about LEGO. Since I was 9 or 10 at the time, it took me about 10 seconds just to start speaking. After 10 minutes of interviewing, they told me to start playing with the truck! I pushed it around slowly to show cylinders and fan moving, steered a wheels a bit, and at the end, I was proudly operating the claw via pneumatics. They film it all and gone, informing that I will receive VHS with all the scenes, and one edited. The show was held in a 7 days, and I was a star in my neighborhood. People here back than knew a little bit about LEGO, but never saw such big and functional set as 8868. That set and that show was very inspiring for me and it helped me to be occupied with LEGO today. Thanks a lot, Dad! Quote
Omicron Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I was featured on a Japanese documentary about the Grandfather Clock (which my grandparents own here in MA). It was hosted by singer Ken Hirai practically a decade ago. -Omi Quote
FettJango Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Once for a Beach Volleyball tournament, A toothbrush commercial and a couple times at the daily mass. (At my church, they film sometimes.) Quote
freakwave Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I once appeared in 2002 on a Singaporean Cooking show ! It aired on a small private channel, but then went a year after on the DVB-T broadcasts and one HAD to watch it during communting the public buses... fW Quote
Galaxy Explorer Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 I've been on TV a few times when I lived in Iowa. All were local news stories about my interest in Star Wars. Twice when the Special Editions were released in 1997, and twice when The Phantom Menace premiered in 1999. Those were a lot of fun and I got to be a local celebrity for a bit! Quote
CMP Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 I may have been in the background if any news station was covering Celebration V. Quote

And I said "I don't like cheesestrings!" because my mom had given me one in my lunch, and I didn't like it. I was on the local news of my town because on the way to a school trip the driver became unconsious, I drove the bus onto a layby (no one else would or could) and called the paramedics, and my school awarded me with a £100 gift certificate for my brave deed, no one was hurt and a police officer said if I hadn't broken the law and done that, everyone may have died, it was in 2003 so it probably won't be on Youtube though, i'll have a look...
