MINI CONTEST: Design-a-Villain

Remember that Flash Factory application on the Hero Factory website that citizens use to describe their monster problems? Von Nebula and other villains have discovered that it makes a great brainstorming platform for engineering new villains to help plunder and destroy the galaxy! The premise of this mini contest is simple: Create 3 wild and diabolical villains using the Flash Factory application.

How to Enter

1. Create 3 different villains using the Flash Factory application on Herofactory.com (You may need to update your Flash player to run it).
   
2. For each villain, save he/she/it to a 450x350 max image file (see possible methods listed below).
   
3. Post the images in this topic, including a name and description for each villain before 15th of October 2010 at 2300 NZT to qualify the entries.
   

General Notes

• Villains must be created exclusively in the Flash Factory application. There are plenty of pieces and transforming options - Get creative!
  
• Any adjusting of images after being made in Flash Factory other than converting file format, resizing and cropping will disqualify the entry.
  
• 3 entries per person are required to enter, but feel free to make more. You can replace any of your 3 entries with other villains right up until the close date of the contest.
  
• Entries that appear too similar to earlier entries may not be accepted as one of a person's 3 entries.
  
• The prize for the winner of this contest is an exclusive Toyfair 2010 Hero Factory Promo with CD!
  

Saving Villains to an Image File

Because the Flash Factory only offers printing to paper as the method of saving and sharing your Villain, it's slightly difficult to show a Villain online. There are a few ways around this though, which are less-wasteful and faster than printing and rescanning the image.

This first method is easiest. Simply position the browser window so that you can see all of your villain, and press the Print Screen key on your keyboard. Then, open up an application such as Paint and paste the screen capture into the blank image (Edit - Paste). Crop the image to show only the villain, resize it, and you're done! This method is fast and simple, although the size of the villain is limited by your screen resolution. (Any screen size should be plenty for this contest though.)

A second method is install a Printer to PDF/BMP/PNG/etc driver, of which many free versions can be found from a quick search on the Internet. Once installed, you should be able to select this driver from the printer list under the Flash Factory print dialogue, which will save the Villain to the particular kind of file instead. From there, crop and resize as needed and your Villain will be ready to be entered! The advantage of this method (tested in printing to PDF) is that the raster shapes of the Villain pieces are preserved, so you can get much higher resolution versions of the Villain than screen capturing or printing to paper could do.

Here are my 3 villains:

The Mustachinator

Using his three-headed body and four legs, The Mustachinator runs around Makuhero City terrorizing citizens with his Mustachinating Ray Gun, putting mustachios on everything that moves! Be on the lookout for this villain, and wear special head protection to protect you from this menace!

Bat Witch

Using her suction cup feet and her super-sensitive eyes, Bat Witch patrols buildings, sidewalks, and houses, eavesdropping on any fans of her arch nemesis and copycat, Batman! When the time comes, she springs into action with her dual staffs, instilling fear into the hearts of fanboys and fangirls everywhere! Her deep hate for Batman and any other Hero makes her a dangerous villain!

BuzzCat

Don't pet stray animals, especially this one! BuzzCat prowls the streets, looking for his next prey. If you see him, watch out for the buzz saws! With two on his shoulders and one on his tail, they swing around, cutting anything in their path! Combined with his super fast agility, BuzzCat's arsenal makes him a formidable foe for any Hero!

I'm staff and not eligible to enter, I knew about the contest a week ago and made my villain early, and my entry picture is too big. I'm a good example of what not to do, kids.

Sporulator

This villain is some sort of unstoppable mutant fungus -- he grows and ramifies until he covers an entire planet and drains all sources of food.

Fugazix

His designer sunglasses spread the darkness of night and obscure even the midday sun.

Walrux Bucketor

The most dangerous of all the known villains: his bucket is a weapon of terrible destruction and he smells of clams.

Okay here are my concoctions.

Klawmite

An odd chimera of a beast he has dense fur in some areas scaly skin on others and he even has slimy tentacles. He is very dull when it comes to technology but his muscle laser eye and huge claws makes up for his small brain.

Byte

Byte neither has brains or skill and he's very clumsy but he is amazingly lucky. He has interchangeable hands that he can change from razor sharp pincers to an incredibly accurate lazer cannon then into a hand for gathering his loot and he also has great eyesight.

PSY-CAT

This cyborg feline has a super brain and cyber implants to match. After a horrible accident with some hidden rectanguloids and Sukashi Kashipan man he got hit with a giant sand dollar that destroyed most of his body nearly killing him. Luckily the rectanguloids managed to make him a new one with the broken chunks of their broken transmitter and gave him the brain of a super-human. He managed to upgrade himself and created a glass case to keep his brain in, wrist rockets, and super leg suspension so he always lands on his feet.

Gazer, The Staring Mantis

Ripping metals is his hobby.

Watching his opponents suffer is its pleasure.

They call him The Staring Mantis, 'cause he stares his victims just to taste every drop of sorrow he can milk from the foes.

They say Death has lent him the sickles that move him around searching new way to create chaos and pain.

Tank Thou

Tank Thou is a polite villain. Everytime you die, he thanks you for letting him taking your life and increasing his special bloody battery.

He can smash, kill with lasers, spear with his hands/harpoon, chomp even a doublewhopper.

Grapple Knukle

Under kilometers of ice, he slept till today.

Someone has left him on this planet, and he's enjoyng every moment.

Like a hunter on a safari he chase his victims.

After pumping lava on his arms he can crush everything; moving his blades he can drill a mountain in few seconds.

Like a lizard he can lose pieces of his body but they grow up, stronger, and more explosive.

Yes, he can trow you a finger and kabooooooooom!
