The Soup Nazi Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the review, Cloney! Too bad I couldn't get this set and got Hagrid's Hut. Oh well. Even if I used the Border's 40% coupon, It would've still cost 45 dollars and I only have 30 EDIT: Wait, returning it tomorrow and getting the Burrow! :cry_happy: Edited October 16, 2010 by The Soup Nazi Quote
eti Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Is that really Arthur? I told my kids that it's Ron... I didn't know was supposed to be Arthur. As to the new arch: I think you can put a tile under the arch, which is impossible with the old one, so it actually gains functionality. Quote
Siegfried Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Another strange thing comes from a 1x6 tan arch... It seems that TLC has made a new mold for it... Yeah, I got that one too. I much prefer the old one. I'm hoping that TLG has a plan with that piece and will go back to the old design after. Is that really Arthur? I told my kids that it's Ron... I didn't know was supposed to be Arthur. Arthur. Quote
minion Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Thanks for another great LEGO Harry Potter review! I really like this set and I hope I'll get it soon. There are some very nice parts~ Quote
alex54 Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Yeah, I got that one too. I much prefer the old one. I'm hoping that TLG has a plan with that piece and will go back to the old design after. I prefer the old version too, but the new one can be usfull for adding some details. If you put those two arcs one side to the other in a 2 stud wide wall, the difference of radius can be interested. I'm sorry to hear this indeed! It can't be a universal problem, since all of the pieces in my set were just fine, but that is a shame. Also, I got the old arch piece, and not the new one. I would send an email to LEGO customer service about your problems if you haven't already done so; they are always nice about that sort of thing. I will do it, now that I've got internet access again, after one week without it... (problem with my connection...). Quote
Lord Embo Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Even in cramped spaces, lovers always find a way. That is so funny! I love how Ron is just watching from afar, looking scared for some reason. One other thing: will you review Diagon Alley when it comes out? Lord Embo Quote
Clone OPatra Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 One other thing: will you review Diagon Alley when it comes out? Well, I'm not planning on getting it, so that'd be 'no.' If you'd like to send me a copy I will happily review it in full, though. Quote
Oky Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Hehe, I certainly would make an A+ review of Diagon Alley if someone would send it to me! Thanks for the nice review again. Have you copyrighted "Ginnyfig" yet? I recently got this set too and I'm loving it! The figs are great and it's an incredible parts pack! The only thing that bothers me is that Ron, one of the three main characters, isn't included in his own home. That along with the fact that it is underscaled keep the set from being outstanding, so I had to vote for Above Average. It would have also been nice if Molly and Arthur had double sided heads, Molly an angry one and Arthur a scared one, so that you could recreate one of their classic argument scenes. But since this set is full of marvelous, exclusive figs as it is, I can't complain. Quote
erik530195 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 This is the best review ever made, and possibly the best set ever made. (beside The Battle of Endor and ATTE walker) Quote
Geertos13 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) I have this set and it's W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L-L ! I love it so much. I've been crazy about Harry Potter LEGO since the first sets and it's revival makes me so happy ! Edited November 25, 2010 by Geertos13 Quote
Enpaz Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) Thank you very much for the great review! Seriously, your reviews are about the only ones where I bother to read the entire text. Great humour! At first I didn't plan to buy any sets of the new HP line-up, but they really grew on me! Heck, I'm definitely going to buy it now! The model's great, the parts are great, even the minifigs are great. Feel guilty for making me spend 70 euros you kriffin'...Anyway, I love that TLG really tried to put that much detail into it! Cheers! Now face the firepower of this fully armed and...nevermind. You made me laugh so hard. EDIT: Well, maybe I'll not get it after all. Time has diminished the beginning enthusiasm - it all depends on what my finances say. There are so many awesome sets for 2011! Edited January 10, 2011 by Enpaz Quote
kciR Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 This week I wanted to buy this set. I found it in a shop for only €55. But to my despite it was sold out (it was sold out in many shops actually, I thinks it's because of Sinterklaas (a Dutch thing)). They said to get a restock next week, so I probably buy it next week :) I'm thinking of MOCing or heavily MODing it, into a Burrow that has all the rooms and storeys like the books. But I will need quite a lot of time and Legos for that to do it good. So first just the normal set! Quote
BoThEr-MaN Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 It´s a really great review, so i´m going to buy it. I really like the living room and the camin. BotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBotherBother Quote
BoThEr-MaN Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Well, I tried to build the Burrow at the LDD. Here are some pictures: The house The first room The second room The living room The kitchen Thanks Quote
kciR Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 I finally got my Burrow this week. And finished it half an hour ago. What a lovely set! With a lot of detail in it. They put a lot of extra's in this set :) My only concern is the dark red 2x3 sloped brick. I think the holes on the bottom of the bricks (don't know the common name for that) are a bit shifted. This means that it has some (~1/3mm) space left on one side and the same space short on the other side. So it doesn't stay on the studs of the layer underneath it (like a plate), when you place them aside other bricks, not even with a lot of pressure. I should take a picture, that explains more than these words... Are there more people with this problem? I'm thinking of sending TLG a mail. But, that given, a great set! Quote
Quibbler Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 God, You really hate the old figures don't you. You always criticize the old figures and you say how they are so crap. Are you stupid? They were released back in 2000-2003, and the new figures are 2010-2011. What do you expect! Of course the new ones will look more realistic, however the cast was younger back then and LEGO tried there best. I love the old figure's and the new figures, but there not bad at all, there wonderful! Quote

You have no right as a new member here to go about stomping your feet because you don't agree with someone else. Frankly, I don't even know where you getting all your accusations from. I understand that he slammed old ginny in here (who never was popular, its not like we all loved her back then.) however your comment on the qudidtch set made no sense whatsoever, I mean, he never said a bad word about them. Anyway, try to be a bit kinder :) Quote
Clone OPatra Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 I don't think I ever actually try to slam the old figures, though it might come across that way. I attempt to make all my reviews lighthearted, even when I'm looking at things that I don't actualy like. The truth is that I never liked many of the Harry Potter minifigures even back when they were released. Some were excellent, but frankly some like Draco Malfoy really never did it for me. Ginny was probably the worst of them all; her figure looked all wrong. I am sorry if you don't agree, but that's how it goes. I'm not biased against all old minifigures, and in fact if you've read some of my other reviews such as Star Wars or Castle sets you will see that quite clearly. I do take any opportunitiy to jab at old figures though, in the name of humor. Quote

Because his opinion differs from yours? That's a really good way to get yourself a ticket to the break room. Just read reviews for what they are, peoples opinions on the set. Don't like it? Peppermint_M Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Excuse me, Mind your own business Thank you very much. That was my 9 Year old son your talking too! In that case, why is he on a site that states in the member guidelines you must be 18 years or older to post? Quote
tj19941994 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Excuse me, Mind your own business Thank you very much. That was my 9 Year old son your talking too! Your 9 year old son should not be on this site, and if he is on here he should expect to be treated as an adult, so if he is being rude, will will tell him he is being rude. The fact that he remembers the old figures so fondly would make me even question his existence, however for the sake of this I will just comment that if you let your child be that rude to adults, then not expect him to be reminded of his manners, then what kind of person are you bringing him up to be? Quote
Stardusty Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Your son is old enough to insult one of the most respected members of Eurobricks (who is also a great reviewer - IMHO second best one on EB (I somehow like Rufus' reviews more)), but he isn't old enough to learn basic manners and listen to some critics? He was rude, and that was obvious from the first sentence in his post (he doesn't respect other opinions). And then he insults CoP. I mean, really, in 5-7 years he could be wild law-breaking teenager. Do you even care about that? None of you obviously care about grammar or spelling too. This was probably only reason why I wrote this post. Usually, I just read reviews and rate them on from 1 to 10 on my bad-good review list. Anyway, thank you for a great review Clone O'Patra! It sure gave me a good laugh. I guess 'lovers will find the way' is reference to 'Life always finds a way.'. Am I right? My opinion about the set: I really like those figs. They are awesome. I must admit I really like Ginnyfig a lot, too (not like Aayla Secura or Shaak Ti). Do you think 6$ is a reasonable price to pay for it (I don't have any of the HP sets, but I really like the fig)? Other figs are cool to, but Ginny is my favorite (best HP minifig ever). Old version is really ugly - one of the figs I don't want to have - ever. I don't like the Burrow at all. I guess that's just because I saw both the set and Matija Grgurić's version in real life - and Matija did a great job. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Chaps, I handled it, please hold your ire. Quote

I didn't say anything harsh or vulgar. I was just defending a member of this board. Also, this is a public forum, so when you post something, it becomes anyones business who can read it. Quote
