DLuders Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 That site looks like a nice reference to allow folks to make some TREMENDOUS Lego Technic trucks! Quote
efferman Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 holy moly, this is a really sweet little Crane. damn, why are the lego turntables must be so small and weak. i need a 13 studs wide massive Turntable which have no problem with heavy load. Quote

I think no matter how big official LEGO turntable might be in the future, there would always be big friction when crane rotates under the load. Roller bearings ring around the turntable might be the key. I agree that we need 50% or 100% larger turntable. Quote
rjk1977 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) perhaps this works??? its an idea from an mobile crane, you can scale it up i think. http://www.jenniferclarkbass.com/lego/ac50_1_lrg/rollers_lrg.htm If some people wants to have detailed pic's ,i can make them. i work with these truckcranes, and mobile cranes and some harbour cranes. gr RJK Edited September 23, 2010 by rjk1977 Quote
Milan Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 That solution worked on her crane, but is outdated now. She used it mainly to save space, so it is not the best example. Full roller bearings ring in still the best fix for taking the pressure off the turntable. Quote

UPDATE! Thanks for the update. I was getting truck withdrawal and trying to read German at http://www.heavy-transport-world.de Interestingly he said he was going to be away for June and July back in May or something like that. Sure you'r right , but we don't have them at the moment. Think its time TLC would make them. Perhaps 9 or 11 Long Edited September 28, 2010 by rjk1977 Quote

I'm building a turntable right now. Don't know what the "hardcore" lego builders think of it , but i used a ?bearing? where i put 4 L shaped beams and some other small connectors. right now they are fit in the hole and a heavyduty glue is poored in it (something like epoxy) . The complete bearing is fit in a frame which is 11 studs wide and 15 long , and also fixed with the epoxy. When its complete i will put a photo here so you can use the idea when you like it.
