lego-maniac Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Hi ! Here is a Moc for a french contest. The theme is "Made In Japan" The rules says : 5 minifgs maximum and 576 Stud² So here is my entry on a base plate 16X32 It's inspired from different Japanese Temple. General view : close up : Back side : The dead line for the contest is sunday 26, so if ever you have some comments to improve the moc they are welcome ! Hope you'll enjoy ! Quote
Aethersprite Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I am speechless. This is fantastic. Just wondering: What's the bicycle doing there? It stands out a lot and kind of ruins the whole look. I'm guessing you're trying to retain some form or modern-ness in an old temple or something? Quote
Fires-storm Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 This is actually amazingly well done, I like the gong and multi-level roof detail the most. Out of curiosity, what all did you use for the roof design? Quote
lego-maniac Posted September 22, 2010 Author Posted September 22, 2010 Thanks for your comments ! Just wondering: What's the bicycle doing there? In my mind this kind of temple is open to everybody. Why don't take time to pray few minutes just before work ? :) This is the bicycle of the kneeled woman ;) Out of curiosity, what all did you use for the roof design? I use this parts : Bracket 1X2 - 1X4 this way I have to stud face. Then, plates and wings Quote
ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Wow, fantastic job! My only complaint is the studs on the roof, as I am a self-proclaimed hater of studded roofs. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Wow! The lady that is medatating is the best part! Fantastic MOC. Nice work! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Oh my... That's is one hell of a great Japanese temple MOC lego-maniac! You pretty much nailed the Japanese architecture of the temple perfectly! I also like the modified legs of your minifigs, especially the kneeling samurai. I love this, really love this. Quote
AhabDarab Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Great job. I really like everything. Outstanding job on the roof, gong, detail work, adding the bicycle & visitor kneeling, ect, ect.................. WOW. Ahab out................ Quote
I Scream Clone Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 A very nice creation I think that for the most part it is great as is, perhaps as mentioned, a smoother roof would look better, but otherwise it is really nice. Quote
lego-maniac Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 A very nice creation I think that for the most part it is great as is, perhaps as mentioned, a smoother roof would look better, but otherwise it is really nice. I see what you mean but I do not have any solution .... as I want to have a plate for the roof with stud outside and a plate under the roof with stud outside, I can't do smoother than a brick.... I want you to know that people make me remarke that the higher fig do not wear a lego parts but a playmobil parts !!! damned, I was sure it belongs to a lego horse ! So Have to shoot the moc again after correction :) Thanks all for your comments NB / here is the pic inspire me : http://www.bigfoto.com/sites/galery/japan/japan43.jpg Quote
I Scream Clone Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Perhaps four brick walls made with these on each end, . Then you will still have studs on the end of the roof, and by angling the roof sections will still line up. worth a try. Kind of like this. Cheers ISC. Quote

Princess Muttonchops Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 This MOC is so good, I'm gobsmacked. Really, it's awesome, and totally appeals to my love of Japanese culture. Well done lego-maniac, if you don't win a prize, I'll be even more gobsmacked. Quote
Baylego Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Wow, great temple! All of the elements in this are great. I didn't know that such a simple design could work so well for the roof. I think this is the best Japanese temple I have seen, and I hope you win the contest. Quote
Cecilie Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 I think this a very accurate MOC of a Japanese temple, and I don't mind the studded roof at all, I think it looks great the way it is Quote

No problem for asking. it takes me 3 nights from 21:00 to 23:OO and around 1 hour for shooting and puting the minifigs. Total : 7 hours I'm not a fast builder :) Quote

ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Damn! Sorry, but that dragon is absolutely amazing! I say it's between you and him. Quote
Big Cam Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 I really like your design, the massive number of studs at first was a turn off for me, but the more I looked at the pictures, the more I like it. Plus regardless of the studs, the design is great, and your custom figs fit the scene perfectly. Quote
