metalgearsolid Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) Been working on this for a while. I started with set 7744 Police Headquarters but ran out of bricks so ended up using sets 10197 Fire Brigade & 8154 Brick Street Customs as well. The concept is that of an old police HQ that recently had a modern wing added to meet growing needs. It's not quite there but I'm so sick of seeing the floor in a mess so I decided to just wrap up so I can get the bricks off the floor. Some how missed the busy couple on the roof so I shall have to re-take most of the exterior pics... sorry a bit NSFW... Update: Took a few hasty photos before I re-do the building. Exterior shot from the right side: Basement & Garage overhead: 1st floor overhead (reception & office): 2nd floor (recreation room) & helipad overhead: Roof top view: Edited September 23, 2010 by metalgearsolid Quote
Marckeyh Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 LOL @ minifigs on the roof! I like your MOC, looks very good and it's a good idea. The stairs need some work. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Very nice fusion of old world and futuristic styles here, though I also feel the stairs could do with some improvements. It appears to be well detailed, any interior shots ? Anyway, good work 'metalgearsolid' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Modulex Guy Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Figs on the roof, Oh my, Get a cop up there ASAP! haha. Very nice MOC and a good concept of old and new. You see that a lot now in major cities, Chicago has some good examples like this. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Its called trespassing when a Pharoah is on top of such a beatiful MOC! Nice work! Quote
metalgearsolid Posted September 22, 2010 Author Posted September 22, 2010 I like your MOC, looks very good and it's a good idea. The stairs need some work. Very nice fusion of old world and futuristic styles here, though I also feel the stairs could do with some improvements. I have to agree, but I was out of ideas and REALLY wanted the bricks off the floor (it was getting painful to hop over the bricks to access the windows...). Was hoping for some ideas/tips from some MOC experts here to complete this. Just a little explanation, the reason for the main entrance to be on the 2nd floor is cos the basement contains the holding cells for prisoners... Very nice MOC and a good concept of old and new. You see that a lot now in major cities, Chicago has some good examples like this. Thanks! That's what I was hoping to achieve cos I also see many of such examples in Singapore. Its called trespassing when a Pharoah is on top of such a beatiful MOC! Nice work! Thanks! Erm... my bf claims I've very naughty minifigs... they seem to move around a lot when I'm away... It appears to be well detailed, any interior shots ? Yes, but I need to re-shoot the interiors (well, and exteriors too) - I will try to post some more pics this weekend. Quote
RoryoCox Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I like the mix of the CC style and city style. It works well as if the blue and white part is built onto it. I think all of the details are really good but one thing I would say is to improve the stairs. Overall, a very good job and Well Done Quote
Teddy Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Hi metalgearsolid, You build a nice starting point for a police station. it might be an idea to rotate the stairs 90 degrees and integrate them into the facade. Further I would limit the use of white in the staircase as it is the dominant color of the extension. here is an example of a Hollywood studio building with a staircase as part of the facade: Other example of a Paris ploice station: Further I would like to recommend you to limit the use of the lion statue head. You might want to try and vary the detailing a bit per floor. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Johan Quote
prateek Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Awesome! I like the huge windows, and the addition looks great beside the building. One thing to improve is the staircase IMO. BTW, shouldn't the Police HQ be under high security? If so, how did the pharaoh and his girl get on the roof? Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 This is a fantastic modification of the Police HQ metalgearsolid! Looks nothing like the original, this one looks like a brand new Police HQ set that is waaay better than the 7744. It's nice to see the fusion of the modular-style main building and the new modern wing. Truly impressive work Madam! Quote
peterab Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I really like the MOC, and I don't have any suggestions to add. Figs on the roof, Oh my, Get a cop up there ASAP! haha. Its called trespassing when a Pharoah is on top of such a beatiful MOC! BTW, shouldn't the Police HQ be under high security? If so, how did the pharaoh and his girl get on the roof? It all depends on who 'The Pharaoh' is when he isn't playing dress ups. If he's the chief of police ... Quote
metalgearsolid Posted September 23, 2010 Author Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) It appears to be well detailed, any interior shots ? Hi lightningtiger, I added some overhead shots that shows the interior in the 1st post. I think all of the details are really good but one thing I would say is to improve the stairs. One thing to improve is the staircase IMO. Truly impressive work Madam! Thanks Peterab, Burma, Prateek & KielDaMan! Yes, one modified stairs coming up! it might be an idea to rotate the stairs 90 degrees and integrate them into the facade. Further I would limit the use of white in the staircase as it is the dominant color of the extension. Further I would like to recommend you to limit the use of the lion statue head. You might want to try and vary the detailing a bit per floor. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Johan Oh, thanks a lot for the useful ideas Johan, I will work on modifying the building. Really appreciate the pictures. Thanks again! BTW, shouldn't the Police HQ be under high security? If so, how did the pharaoh and his girl get on the roof? I know I know... I hear the Chief of Police is furious and has just signed an arrest warrant for these two miscreants... apparently on charges of indecent exposure. I will be a good citizen and post the notice up when I get a copy. Done! Edited September 23, 2010 by metalgearsolid Quote
Fires-storm Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Well done, this is a brilliant set up! I like the detailing on the buildings, as well as the modern and the old crossed together. The whole thing fits very well, and the interior is also sweet. Nice work! Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 WOW! The interior looks great! Nice work. Quote
